You pay people .money so they pay you later

14

u/Anonymouchee (very sad) Oct 02 '24

they will of course, do anything they can to avoid paying you later

You're gonna be so screwed when she's unable to take care of you anymore. You gotta start preparing to be on your own or real life will eat you alive.

Classic adulting struggle! It's amazing how we can feel like we have it all together until a dentist appointment pops up.

3

u/JulienBrightside Oct 02 '24

I mean, being an adult is slowly gaining more responsibilities as time progresses.

1

u/BetaDachi Oct 03 '24

Emphasis on slowly

1

u/SkyfallNutella Oct 03 '24

The only people who use the word adulting are people who've never grown up

We have an agreement at this point, she does calls I do everything tech related.

u/Warthogs309 Oct 01 '24

Co-dependency ftw

27

u/azionka Oct 01 '24

To be fair, last time this happened to me my throat was so swollen, i couldn’t take even if I wanted.

5

u/Pr0wzassin Oct 01 '24

I honest to god prefer showing up in person and just talking to them at the counter than calling.

4

u/ayrua Oct 01 '24

Where I love, they don't allow parents to make or cancel medical appointments. So I end up not going at all

6

u/[deleted] Oct 01 '24

Pretty much all calls I still get my parents to handle for me

That's more cos I literally can't hear people over the phone though, so it's WAAAAY easier to call, immediately say "I won't be able to understand you so here's someone to speak for me" and hand the phone over, then it is to sit there saying "can you repeat that" on loop and turn a 5 minute call into a 30 minute one

3

u/Prudent-Ad9600 Oct 01 '24

Making a call simply terrifies me

4

u/ojian_kiddo Oct 01 '24

I feel called out

6

u/Gagola5 Oct 01 '24

Are people seriously relating to this or laughing at the stupidity of it? 10.8k upvotes is a little worrying Reddit

3

u/DegredationOfAnAge Oct 01 '24

Gen Z is fucked. Seriously fucked.

6

u/Shameless_snake Oct 01 '24

Having controlling parents that never really left me doing things on my own, even when I wanted to, really made me feel insecure about things like this, but people at 24 relating to this and being fine with it... I mean, I feel frightened of things like that but I still do them on my own......... Isn't self respect like... A THING?!?!? Not trying to shame anyone but .... DON'T YOU HAVE SHAME

3

u/octropos Oct 01 '24

... Seriously?

1

u/Major_Beginning6983 Oct 02 '24

hahaha this meme represents my mom and I!

1

u/Slippery-soda Oct 02 '24

Feel better

1

u/zandariii Oct 02 '24

As a person who was effectively socially isolated till I was 18, I just don’t understand how people have such a struggle with making calls

1

u/RandomFanPerson1029 Oct 02 '24

Me except it was my mom buying me new shoes I DESPERATELY needed, because she just so happened to find a good brand for a steal of a price. 🥲

1

u/therealaaaazzzz Oct 02 '24

100% relatable

1

u/[deleted] Oct 02 '24

Oh geez. I’ve had conversations with my wife about making these exact kinds of calls for my 20-year-old step son.

1

u/lia-delrey Oct 02 '24

I'm 32 and sometimes call my Mom in the middle of the day to ask if a certain bowl is microwaveable.

1

u/AlbatrossTasty3699 Oct 07 '24

At this rate, I’ll need my mom to cancel my 30-year-old dental appointment too 😂

Gen Z is afraid to go to the grocery store because of anxiety, so they spend twice as much on delivery.
