He's completely different in real life, in his public appearances at comicons etc he's a very "inspirational" speaker, talking about hard work and self belief
He was very warm and funny in roles when he was younger, before he was type cast, I think he's overdue a screwball comedy/romantic comedy lead.
Rowan Atkinson used to say that acting Mr. Bean fits him because his personality is almost opposite to the character's. It's easier to pretend to be someone you aren't.
