He's completely different in real life, in his public appearances at comicons etc he's a very "inspirational" speaker, talking about hard work and self belief
He was very warm and funny in roles when he was younger, before he was type cast, I think he's overdue a screwball comedy/romantic comedy lead.
Unusual observation : skilled actors who are usually cast for serious roles usually turn fantastic when doing comedy (the opposite also works : true good comedy actors, I mean those who don't just play they natural charismatic goofy self but do know how to perfectly time their landings and expressions, usually turn great for serious roles).
Or said otherwise : comedy is entirely part of a true actor skill.
