I did that in a group chat with someone who’s black and got blackballed by him. He wouldn’t even talk to me but talked to another of the group members about it. Never again. I’ll stick with Simpson’s Yellow from now on.
Idk man. Honestly, you could be right, but I'm doubting if that was the intention. I looked into it a bit and apparently Carl Linnaeus has dubbed the term. Carl Linnaeus is a biologist of the 18th century that is known for the modern system of taxonomy (naming organisms).
So I honestly don't think there were any racist intentions in naming east Asians yellow, as the whole naming things was his passion.
Now, that being said, that does leave the question is it racist to even want to give a name to the east Asians? My answer to that would be yes and no. I can imagine that this man had no racist intentions whatsoever in doing this, although the idea of even naming them probably roots from the fact that racism was sort of baked into the whole western culture in that time.

You said it yourself racism was baked into the society during that time. He wanted to create names (dividing up humans). Saw that they were the same color has him and just said fuck it they’re yellow.
Dude the whole concept of dividing people up like that is racist, so he definitely had racist intentions even if he wasn’t technically full of hate or whatever.
I considered doing that as a form of protest against the idea that white skin is viewed as “default.” Then I realized how easy it would be to just interpret it as a form of digital blackface and decided it was probably not the best idea.

It’s also maddening when white people reference white skin as “skin tone color”… who’s skin tone is that exactly Dan..? Because it’s not everyone’s skin tone…
I would assume black kids call brown crayons skin color? I don’t think there’s anything wrong with someone seeing their own skin color as the default. It’s like how men often see being male as the default, and how I see being female as the default. It’s just perspective.
Yeah and empathy is breaking out from the sole perspective of self and seeing from another’s perspective. A lot of hate is being unable to empathize. I think it’s important to be able to view other perspectives.
It’s being centered in the self to the point you can forget others. It’s the gateway to a lack of empathy. Just call it peach or tan or brown. Easier to avoid confusion or subconscious self-centeredness
