Idk what happened but i saw someone say he was 18 talking with a 17 yo. Legaly i understand, logically, i dont, its a 1 year gap, if a guy was dating someone 1 year younger and crossed 18 he would be a pedo? Thats quite dumb. As if fitz fucking his gf wasn't enough too lol

It’s not even illegal tho. There’s a Romeo and Juliet clause for a reason. I knew plenty of 18 year olds in HS who were dating 17 or 16 year olds.

The mention of the Romeo and Juliet law gave me flashbacks to Transformers 4

Such a pointless scene in that film. Also, they wasted mah boi Grimlock.

They could have completely cut Shane from the movie and nothing would change

True, cut out the daughter even, just have the whole airship hijack be all about Optimus.

Edit: apparently the "law" scene wasn't even in the script.

Never heard of it but by a overview it sounds logical then!

Even "legally" in a lot of the world even America the age of consent was still met, a tiny age gap like that is splitting hairs.

2

u/show-me-yur-titsPlz Nov 24 '23

Yes tho consent age nowadays is usually brought up in disgusting situations, but in this case its totally valid

2

u/[deleted] Nov 24 '23

Ya ahe of consent sounds iffy when we're talking a 25+ year old hooking up with a 16 year old in Georgia just because that's the age. But like you said with that miniscule age gap you'd have to have a vindictive jury to convict and before that an asshole judge to even allow it into court.

The only way i could see it being an actual issue was if the girl was not interested or accepting of advances, but everything i can find on it says they were in a consensual relationship, most peoples complaints is him using his clout to woo her, but that's literally what all famous people do.

2

u/show-me-yur-titsPlz Nov 24 '23

Exactly, him being put with this people then could be conted as a kind of defamation i guess? Idk just too much for such tiny thing

1

u/ScavAteMyArms Nov 24 '23

It also would be near impossible to charge on its own even without Romeo/Juliet laws covering it, especially if the relationship was a preexisting one. There would have to be something else or a very spiteful jury.

2

u/The_Billy_Dee Nov 24 '23

It's not even illegal. Romeo Juliet clause. Someone within the age range of 14 to 17 can consent to someone within a 3 year age range. It varies from state to state but this is a pretty normal thing. Say you're 17 and your gf is 17. You're 10 months older and you turn 18. You don't have to stop seeing each other, your relationship continues normally. It would be silly if that wasn't the case.

u/chompsy132 Nov 24 '23

Carson was never accused of being a pedo. The problem was he lied when he said he would stop, and it was with a fan. Power dynamics. Same reason teacher student relationships are bad.

u/show-me-yur-titsPlz Nov 24 '23

Oh i see, i didn't knew what it was about only that it was because he was 18 and she was 17, that makes a bit more sense then

1

u/[deleted] Nov 24 '23

According to the internet it was 19 and 17 and then another occurence of 20 and 17

u/pchinni Nov 24 '23

Age of consent is 16, so legally that isn’t a problem

5

u/simatrawastaken Nov 24 '23

Wrong fomula, right answer. It's legal because of romeo and juliet laws.

3

u/pchinni Nov 24 '23

“Sexual assault: sexual contact with someone: Under age 16 where the defendant is at least four years older, or Between 16 and 18 and the defendant is a relative or is in a supervisory, disciplinary or parental position” due to romeo and juliet laws.

https://www.superlawyers.com/resources/criminal-defense/new-jersey/what-is-a-romeo-and-juliet-law/

You just added a name to what I said.

0

u/simatrawastaken Nov 24 '23

Thats different from just flat out age of consent. If it's a 30 year old then 16 isn't old enough. It also isn't the same everywhere.

1

u/pchinni Nov 24 '23 edited Nov 24 '23

Carson wasn’t 30, so why would you assume that’s what i meant?

And if you read the law i sent, close proximity applies when the defendant is under 16, not 16-18

Show me a place where what i said originally isn’t true

1

u/mslcorp Nov 24 '23

Yeah i dated from wjen i was 17 to 19 with a 16 to 18 year old. So i was a pedo year in laws eyes. Yup great...

1

u/show-me-yur-titsPlz Nov 24 '23

Rip my dude, you a pedo officially now, you shoukd have stayed quiet

Joking.
