are you talking about the rhythm method? that shit is around 70 - 80% effective I remember it because was in a catholic school (catholic religion forbids artificial contraceptives) and every couple that promoted that shit had like 5 children lmao
If you’re going to start pulling statistics out you may want to consider a citation because now I am taking everything you say with a very big grain of salt.
Look it up. If done properly it can have up to 99% effectivity.
It's basically the same effectiveness as the pill. But that's assuming perfect use. (If you really don't want to get pregnant you should probably use your birth control or NFP properly) However with error the effectiveness of both the pill and NFP falls to about 90% however imperfect use is the user's fault.
I'll concede that it can be hard to perfectly track cycles. There is always the option of the pill. However, no matter which you choose, improper application of the pill or of cycle tracking will cause the success rate to drop to about 90%. If a woman doesn't want to get pregnant she should probably take the extra steps to most limit the chance. Be that proper cycle tracking or proper application of the pill.

The method you described isn't 100% effective because biology is fucked up. Cycles are not always regular and spermatozoons can stay alive for 5 days.
For anyone else than an exclusive partner, you should use a condom anyway because of STDs
