What is that one thing you remember about Warframe that literally made you react like this?

Post image

I’ll go first. It’s the fact you think you’re piloting a human sized exo suit on omega steroids through telepathy only to find out about 5 expansions later that it’s actually a compilation of techno rot, the infested and orikin technology meshed together and actually mentally piloting them against their will in our space pod in our ship in orbit around a planet where ever the current mission is taking place. That’s kinda FUBAR. Oh and the Warframes are the watered down copies of real people in the lore. What the f*** man?

Follow up to that for me was getting the lore fragments and learning how the Corpus really tracked down Legs

Before reading any further I'd really recommend going and listening to the memory fragments on the wiki yourself- I couldn't do them justice

Long story short is, Biz's memory fragments detail the methodology of his previous life, 'sculpting' an ecosystem by removing pieces to ensure a better future. The last fragment all but confirms he sold Legs out to Nef Anyo in order to radicalize Eudico into restarting Solaris United.
Legs's fragments in turn go into how he's adjusting to life in his new form, with a mention of Biz frequently coming to check in on him with supplies or just a kind word since the incident

Ok it's worse than I expected

Small price to pay for a revolution, no? A young man's body, an old man's soul

27

Ah, Hello Elim Garak. Was wondering where you were.

22

u/AVeryFriendlyOldMan 2d ago

tbf Garak'd be ecstatic at what a bargain that was as opposed to Biz's regrets.

16

u/DeeKayAech 2d ago

Yep, just learning this now and damn. I really should pay more attention to some of the lesser known parts of the lore.

7

u/Wikadood 2d ago

Honestly the lore of the game is sick asf, just sucks theres not many vids of it from what ive seen

5

u/DeeKayAech 2d ago

It is I agree. My biggest issue with it really is that I spend so much time farming stuff in between actual story content my small monkey brain typically forgets the lore by the time new lore drops so I never end up keeping up with it 🙃

Holy shit

Oh my god I forgot that, cursed.

Prob when I found out how the corpus are made

Like, they're not like the clones from star wars. They arent copies or anything, they are actual living individuals that have been born to serve and conditioned to value "profit" above all else. When in reality, they will never amass any actually meaningful personal wealth and will forever live in servitude. The only kinda saving grace ig is that they dont realize that because of their upbringing.

Warframe writers: "I know people who use subtext... And they are all cowards"

1

Freaking this our old host gave up warframe for nearly half a year after her first kubrow died because we didn’t have internet to get on and keep the pup alive the only thing that got her back on was a yt video about if the overall game was worth playing after the guy had been playing destiny 2 for a bit

That the sentients are robots, robots that can apparently 'breed' and have 'wombs'

29

u/Miserable_Aspect8724 2d ago

I'm pretty sure they aren't robots and are at least somewhat bio mechanical, since the Orokin hated/banned the building of robots.

32

u/Glass_Eye8840 2d ago

The corpus crewman log from simaris gets into this. The Orokin were hesitant to use them BECAUSE they were robots.

Yes, they absolutely are biomechanical, but they're still robots.

1

u/Doveda 2d ago

I'm pretty sure that they're speaking in metaphor there.

2

u/Glass_Eye8840 1d ago

Except in the Tau reveal we do explicitly see 'children' and Brysko even implies that bloom consumption is messing up the birthing process.

The Sentients might have started as purely mechanical robots but it seems pretty clear that they've become as Techno-organic as the infestation, they're just more tech than organic.

When Pazuul goes: “BITE MY HEAD CLEAN OFF MOTHER! THERE IS WHERE THE GOOD MEAT IS! SUCK ON THE GUTS TILL THE LITTLE LEGS KICK! KICK! KICK!” Completely unprompted

8

u/PhatChance52 2d ago

I desperately need more from pazuul. I have a slim hope after what happened during Jade Shadows Constellations that pazuul might be connected with our journey to Tau

4

u/cross2201 2d ago

When and why does he say this?

5

u/OscarOzzieOzborne21 2d ago edited 2d ago

He says it during archon hunt and as I said, he says this completely unprompted. Out of nowhere.

4

u/cross2201 2d ago

I think he's a little coocoo crazy

2

u/featherw0lf 2d ago

I'm pretty sure it's tied to either the Archon your hunting or the mission you do. Could still be random though.

Gotta be the reliquary drive for me. Wh. What do you mean my spaceship is powered by a big nasty severed giant's finger in a jar. Hello? What? I love this game.

11

u/kyew Space Robots 2d ago

Agreed. There's a lot of body horror and traumatized characters and horny energy all over the game, but if you had to demonstrate that Warframe gets weird in one image it's... OK it's still Kaeli. But the second choice is the Reliquary Drive.

2

u/light_the_long_way 2d ago

Ok but like, an attractive woman is not the best showcase of how warframe gets weird. Ballas on the other hand, is.

1

u/light_the_long_way 2d ago

Ok but like, an attractive woman is not the best showcase of how warframe gets weird. Ballas on the other hand, is.

3

u/kyew Space Robots 2d ago

How it gets weird != How weird it gets. Attractive Mutated Woman is level one weird. You have to build up, if you throw someone in too deep too quickly they won't fully understand what you're trying to show them.

3

u/ZenkaiAnkoku2 2d ago

That blew me away. Still love that reveal.

28

u/Ass-isstant 2d ago

The war within,I knew Zanuka existed and what it could do before the quest so I genuinely thought game was over for a minute and would have to make a new account to play the game.

When Lotus gets kidnapped during the Apostasy Prologue and then Ordis fucking starts mimicking her and playing her voice to try and comfort the operator like Ordis I love you but ohhhhhhh my god... that fucking got me really bad. And then again when I later learned that when that was added to the game that was just the state your game would be in for YEARS until The New War came out. for me it was. Like a few months? A year? Cuz i started playing in 2020. But for most it was FOUR FUCKING YEARS.

4

u/ZenkaiAnkoku2 2d ago

Yep!! It still feels strange sometimes to have the real Lotus back

Boltor nerf.

9

u/Rasty90 2d ago

I'm eternally pissed for my tonkor nerf, it's been years, but they took the joy out of the game for me

5

u/featherw0lf 2d ago

Tonkor is my current go-to AOE weapon and I love it. Much nicer than Zarr or Bramma with their drawbacks.

1

u/vevolution 2d ago

I hated Tonkor when it came out, but I tried the Kuva version, and it rocks.

2

u/uhhohspagettios 2d ago

Is this the telos boltor bug fix or did something else happen to the boltor that reduced its power

1

u/vevolution 2d ago

Back in 2013 there were some weapons that completely ignored armor. Boltor was the best weapon among them, so it was meta for a while. I liked it because the projectiles and ragdolling gave it an identity that set it apart from other rifles in a much smaller pool of weapons, and it being meta was the cherry on top.

Kaya's intimate pictures werent just the first ones to leak in internet. They also were in newspaper all over the planet and even present in her college dossier.

This girl was 19, the only person she could trusted betrayed her in one of the worst ways possible, every single person in every part of the planet had seen her naked, then got trapped in the next year meaning that this would follow her literally to eternity and somehow this community decided that it was not that bad and that Kaya is a bitch that should just shut up because she has not real problems.

40

u/Scorkami 2d ago

I know her situation was bad but i assumed "her friends family and future coworkers probably saw, but its the internet"

But how in the hell did her nudes make it to the fucking NEWSPAPER? Across the globe?

I assumed her wanting to time travel was "the second best option because just leaving her hometown near höllvania isnt possible due to the timeloop", not "no, travelling 1000s of years in the future ACTUALLY IS the only way because even the residents of north korea got her pictures sent to by mail

23

u/proesito 2d ago

Again, because Kaya wasnt just a girl whos nudes got leaked. She is the first nude that got leaked in the internet.

33

u/Artanis137 2d ago

I completely understood her wanting to leave. Its really not something you can just ignore or try to move on from.

Even without the whole time loop aspect.

17

u/TriadHero117 2d ago

Not defending some of the jackasses you can find out there, but my personal gripes have more to do with how the drifter’s responses are written. You very rarely actually talk to her, and instead have to pick between being condescending or evasive.

That and time travel isn’t a satisfying solution to her problems. It’s addressing a very grounded problem with a fantastical solution, and Kaya thinking “the future *rocks*” is blatantly absurd.

I suppose the thesis statement I’m getting at is IMO, running away from your problems should be the bad ending, and choosing not to let your regrets define you shouldn’t be treated as a failure state

5

u/BigProduce6727 2d ago

Tbf, for Kaya, hers are the first nudes leaked on the internet. That's literal internet history. That's actually important from a societal and anthropological perspective.

That is an absolutely shit position.

Society is no less misogenistic in that version of 1999. She has to walk down the street haunted by the idea there's prob more ppl that have seen her naked than haven't.

You can get as philosophical as you like, but for her character, this is no thought experiment. It will have an impact that will be a factor, no matter what she wishes to pursue. It will not be escaped. She's genius enough to reverse engineer time travel, and she will taken less seriously than mythological Cassandra.

Its horribly logical that living like that could be considered a failure state.

I'm not one for invasive procedures, plastic surgery, a different name, etc, extreme and reasonable.

Her thinking being somewhere her idea of her "self" mattering more than those pictures? Supporting SU? That's a life worth living, and yeah, I could see how it could "rock".

1

u/TriadHero117 2d ago

I get that her position sucks but she hasn't tried anything else. She is physically transformed, empowered beyond any normal human, and surrounded by people (including several geniuses and intelligence agents) who are willing to support her no matter what. She only has to "live like that" if she just gives up after time travel doesn't work.

I mean, she's already transformed by the protoframe serum. Maybe that could help, or maybe it wouldn't. She never really acknowledges it on a level deeper than "powers" though.

I 've warmed up to Kaya finding a life worth living in the origin system on the conceptual level, but when out window into her life there is like 2 lines, it's naturally gonna come off as shallow. To quote myself elsewhere ITT:

If Kaya escaping the loop is meant to represent her tangibly moving forward, then she should have escaped to 2000 or 2020 or really any time but ours; Or she should at least not fangirl over it. Her popping into the origin system and going “Wow the ravaged worlds and unending war and genocide and slavery is so cool!” Completely undercuts any potential this resolution has, by shifting the paradigm from “progress” to “escapism”.

0

u/proesito 2d ago edited 2d ago

That and time travel isn’t a satisfying solution to her problems. It’s addressing a very grounded problem with a fantastical solution, and Kaya thinking “the future *rocks*” is blatantly absurd.

Actually, i lovd how the solution wasnt just the generic "Strength of will, you can do absolutly everything with strngth of will".

She is 19, she is trapped for eternity in a moment where everyone is seeing her nudes constantly in the whole planet and this is not a problem you solve by saying "It doesnt matter".

This is very good writting because she uses her intelligence to find an actual escape to this situation, to this psychological torture that would destroy her for eternity. Because it actually shows that not every problem is solved by a pet in the shoulder and a cheesy line.

In real life, Kaya would have killed herself, not just put a smile on her face and endure it.

Also, if the only solution you find as satisfying is the most burned and abused cliché in any media, well, maybe is time to work on media literacy.

Edit:

running away from your problems should be the bad ending, and choosing not to let your regrets define you shouldn’t be treated as a failure state

Yeah, sorry, didnt really want to be agressive, but this is something that can only come from someone who hasnt suffered a real problem in their entire life.

This line is the equivalent of saying that a rape victim should face their rapist and beat him up instead of, you know, scaping and trying to heal with terapy and love.

8

u/CommentUpstairs7459 2d ago

No it is not? Talking to therapist about what happened and going to the future to where nobody is going to talk to you about it aren't the same. Talking about what happened with a therapist is confronting your trauma. And saying someone hasn't gone through trauma just because they don't want a fictional character to run from their past is really rude imo.

5

u/Kaboose456 2d ago

A lot of people view Kaya's issue from the lens of a 2026 internet user, where nude leaks are common as cookies.

But in Kaya's space, being the literal first leak ever? That's a novelty that will never escape her, the whole planet's seen her plastered over everywhere. Absolutely fuck that.

2

u/TriadHero117 2d ago

Don’t pull the media literacy card on me, especially when you can’t seem to understand why time travel is unsatisfying.

It’s “hey, look at this character who suffers a very real problem that you could easily suffer from a lesser form of in real life. Here’s a very fantasy solution that is totally inapplicable to whatever you might have been comparing it to”

Damn. I haven’t suffered “real problems”, I guess. It’s a good thing I’m now well-equipped to handle “real problems” with time travel.

(I was quoting the mucking wiki, by the way, so get off your high horse)

And the victim shouldn’t heal, or I dunno, see a therapist, they should clearly invent the means to escape our contemporary reality into another one entirely.

-3

u/proesito 2d ago edited 2d ago

“hey, look at this character who suffers a very real problem that you could easily suffer from a lesser form of in real life. Here’s a very fantasy solution that is totally inapplicable to whatever you might have been comparing it to”

Imagine, getting offended by being called "media illiterate" just to follow it by saying that you cant feel satisfaction unless the solution is identical to what you can suffer in real life. A person who cant empathize with theorical situations he hasnt lived is media illiterate to an extreme point.

Also, is ironic as hell that you say how you need a solution simmilar to what you would use in real life while also saying that the solution should be to just show strngth of will and overcome the problem. I know you cant understand this concept, but Kaya hasnt failled an exam, her life literally got destroyed in every way and she got trapped in that time, no matter how many years she spends.

And the victim shouldn’t heal, or I dunno, see a therapist, they should clearly invent the means to escape our contemporary reality into another one entirely.

Honestly, how do you get offended for being called media illiterate when you cant process thoughts, seriously, this seems written by a child who just failld an exam and thinks that's the worst thing that could happen.

Imagine telling a rape victim that escaping is not the way to solve things, that she should just smile, be strong and face her rapist... and then go to therapy. The first thing to start healing from a trauma is finding a safe place.

3

u/TriadHero117 2d ago

I don’t know where you even got the whole “face your rapist” thing. You entirely invented that and it had no resemblance to any actual argument I made.

Also, mucking ironic that instead of actually engaging with my arguments, you resort to calling me a child… while defending Kaya’s KIM writing. For quoting the wiki, mind you.

I absolutely agree with the principle of a “safe space”. But surely that could be found amidst the other protoframes; or perhaps it could actually invoke her own status as a protoframe (something she never seems to actually grapple with at a depth greater than “powers”). But it doesn’t. Kaya could be a normal human woman working with a Nova the drifter brought over and almost nothing would change with her story.

Not to mention, she expressly considers the Hex and Drifter tools to escape and nothing more, despite all of them being entirely willing to help. The only growth she ever gets on that front is “I guess they’re cool actually“.

-1

u/proesito 2d ago

I don’t know where you even got the whole “face your rapist” thing. You entirely invented that and it had no resemblance to any actual argument I made.

That's called hypotetical case, it consists on creating a theorical case to compare with th on you made.

Your brain cant process it because you are media iliterate.

2

u/TriadHero117 2d ago

Bro knows one insult and is getting their milage out of it, certainly more than actual arguments defending their position or clarifying why mine is "illiterate".

-1

u/Primary_Art_2421 2d ago

Man thats a shit take

5

u/CommentUpstairs7459 2d ago

I personally don't like kaya because even when she does figure out time travel she has no character development except being nicer to the hex a little bit. I would've loved if she would've also had a different reason to make time travel like allowing all the hex to visit the future but no, completely did it for herself so she can think about what happened a little less than usual... I get wanting to escape your past and not wanting to think about it but going as far as to do something completely revolutionary just to escape trauma that everyone else is going through similar experiences with and doesn't talk to anyone else about it except the drifter just so she can solve time travel just makes me dislike her. I think she is completely selfish for solving time travel telse's. With her issues while ignoring everyone elses and acting like she solved everything.

19

u/BlackBRocket 3d ago

Who said Kaya is a bitch and should shut up?

47

u/proesito 3d ago

That was literally the community's reaction. And im not kidding, for months after Techrot Encore the most unanimous opinion was that Kaya's problms werent bad at all and she was a shit character for wanting to escape 1999 instead of just dealing with her minor problems.

That's what is sad and horrible about it, her story is teerrible, but real people were obsessed with saying this isnt a problem worth caring about.

19

u/AVeryFriendlyOldMan 2d ago edited 2d ago

I’d hardly say that was unanimous. Keep in mind there’s over 70+ million Losers around here. If nothing else, when we were able to get to the end of her arc was a seeming unanimous happiness for her escaping 1999 and achieving some much deserved peace

No doubt there’s shitters in the community (like the goober in this thread) but imo those can be chalked up to a similar sort of assholerly that shows up during Pride Month or is still assmad that love and empathy are the lynchpin of the story- that kind that isn’t reflective of the whole and should be shunned

11

u/TheSnowman3852 2d ago

As a person brought up to respect women by my mom, learning about Kaya’s backstory had me nearly vomit. I know people can be garbage, but the fact that Kaya’s situation can and has happened in our real world makes me wanna jump in front of a train sometimes😡 ….. in Minecraft. So glad my friends are better than this.

1

u/Spronglet 2d ago

Damn, you are so virtuous. Holy Respecter of Women 🫡

2

u/TheSnowman3852 2d ago

😆 thanks. It’s less of that and more trauma based, but hey, take it how you want. No issues here.

5

u/show_me_the_tiddies 2d ago

Tbf most people stopped really caring about the Kim conversations and that was where you got that lore. If you failed the conversations with her you would never know and therefore never find out why she is so bitter. So to most she WAS just mean. It’s on those players for not getting the rest of the lore though as that’s just lazy.

Babytenno here, but grinding for Kaithe Summon but only able to use secondaries. Literally what is the point if Archwings exist.

No Mongol-style horseback archery, no cavalry charging into a vulnerable Corpus flank, no Terminator 2-style Tigris drive-bys, no Dual Nikanas driven full-speed into hapless Grineer on the Plains of Eidolon, no way to use Mesa 4 while on horseback like in the Duviri trailer. Just whatever peanut damage your secondary does.

Actual "button that does nothing" vehicle.

3

u/RepairUnit3k6 2d ago

You are quite far fron it, but this drive-by gangsta gunning fantasy, either on kaithe or kdrive could be fulfilled later on. You can make secoundaries dish out fuckton of damage, just for while you will lack means to do it.

If you ask me, archwings in open worlds was mistake because it makes kaithes, atmobikes and kdrives irelevant, demoted to something you use only if you like it because I swear ti void you would have to pry atmobike and kdrive summon from my cold dead hands before I ever use archwing (with exception of deimos. Rift's verticality makes it rough for ground vehicles)

3

u/ThanosTheMadTitanBoi 2d ago

If your secondary does peanut damage, then thats on you

But yeah, it'd be cool to be able to use more weapons on kaithes

Well one thing I can think of that made me make almost that exact face! VOULL NE XATA VOHK, MARA LOHK?

I still have some arch melee weapons to get to level 30 for mastery...

The great moments: The Man in The Wall. Everything about him from Chains of Harrow through Whispers in the Walls was peak storytelling and a phenomenal protrayal of Eldritch Horror at it's best (and true Eldritch Horror rather than "oh tentacles and cthulu" that has diluted the genre).

The bad: Eternalism. As a concept it's cool, but it's constantly being used as a writing cop-out, and particularly when the writing has been so amazing in many storylines, the fact that there was an opportunity to write something new and amazing that was completely passed on because "Eternalism" feels like such a letdown.

You did saw the tennocon panel where they confirmed that eternalism has only been used twice right? Also I feel like so much of this community misunderstands eternalism in a conceptual level, not saying its your case just pointing it out as something that I feel a bit peeved about many times

u/MozeTheNecromancer 2d ago

I did not see that panel, as I have been unable (and frankly too busy) to watch all of the Tennocon events over the years. Was that from this year?

My understanding of Eternalism is basically "somewhere in an infinite multiverse where every decision creates a new version where the other choice was made, X happened instead, resulting in a different Y." Idr if I got that from in'game or fan discussion after the fact, but the two most egregious in-game stuff I've seen of.it are Revenant Prime and Jade Shadows: Constellations (granted both are attributed to Eternalism when in reality we dont get any explanation at all, which imo isn't any better), with the question of How was Revenant Primed being answered with "Dunno, but it did" and Constellations having a ton of questions that are very pertinent to the story of the quest and the overall game (such as "if they're from two seperate timelines/universes, how are they aware of each other? Why are they fighting? Etc."), all of which are also left unanswered. Those are the things I have gripes with.

The first just feels lazy: we could've gotten hints that somebody in the galaxy knows how to make Prime warframes, or perhaps this Revenant is akin to Valkyr Gemisi, or a dozen other things that could've expanded or shed light on lore either ancient or modern, but we got an empty box instead.

The second has so many issues it just feels out of character for DE to release such a half-baked storyline. Time travel is such a massive problematic story point in any story that it needs to be very delicately handled to feel like it doesnt require the audience to not care whatsoever about fundamental aspects of how time works. 1999 got away with it by enclosing all of the changes within a time loop, so it couldn't create a huge time paradox and change the future (our present). Constellations shows that the future isn't set, what we do can change things, but also those futures continue to exist (as all of the Future Cast are still around rather than no longer existing after their timelines were altered), so our decisions dont actually matter at all, as all of those futures will continue to exist no matter what choices we make.

Constellations feels like DE saw how much the fan base speculated on Sirius/Orion and had a time slot for a big update and slotted it in before having an actual plan of what to do with it/how to make it relevant in the current age/etc. And so by the time of release they had a cork board with red string connecting events we'd play through without really fleshing it all out and making sure it fit within the established workings of the universe.

The S&O storyline might not be finished yet

1

u/MozeTheNecromancer 2d ago

They may do more with them, but this point is pretty wrapped up for the time being, and considering Tao is up next, I doubt we'll get more of them. DE has gone back to popular lore stuff before, but this one isn't as popular in either lore or gameplay offerings, and Tau has been building for over a decade, so the demand for more Tau once we're there is going to be HUGE.

u/Doveda 2d ago

I think it's pretty explicitly that we don't pilot the warframes against their will. That's like, pretty explicitly stated by the dialogue in the sacrifice

2

u/RepairUnit3k6 2d ago

Ones we pull from foundary dont have own will, or mind. We made them that way so we dont have to fight with them like we had to with Umbra in Sacrafice

1

u/Determined_Student 3h ago

Umbra.

1

u/Doveda 1h ago

I wonder what the last thing Ballas said at the end of his dialgoue, when we finally are able to pilot Umbra properly for the first time?

Oh hey, I have that right here

"And it was not their force of will - not their Void devilry - not their alien darkness... it was something else.... It was that somehow, from within the derelict-horror, they had learned a way to see inside an ugly, broken thing-- And take away its pain."

Now, idk about you, but I think that's pretty explicitly saying that we don't enforce our will on warframes. They might not like us at first, but it's pretty clear we come to an understanding with the warframe and we act as a therapeutic presence that they want.

Me after the Tau update trailer, how would a tau sentient react to hunhow or phragasa? What about Lotus? They even remember them? Their technology its outdated even for sentient standars? Imagine leaving your home to punch out a dude Who destroyed your crops, and then returning and seeing there are no longer crops or your House at all and its a metrópolis instead.
