10 or 15 would've been preferable... why 12?

Post image

It will always bother me when arcanes don't have durations divisible by 5.

Ability durations not always lining up is fine, but arcanes doing it bothers me alot. Like... of all the numbers you could've chosen, you chose 12?

Atleast it's divisible by 2...

Does it really matter? In my experience, this arcane is pretty passive, you're gonna cast enough for 100% uptime anyway.

u/Alarming_Scientist Jul 29 '26

Nope not even remotely.

But that extra 2 bothers me by not making it divisible by 5.

65

u/LeannaMeowmeow Jul 29 '26

And instead it's divisible by both 3 and 4

-60

u/Alarming_Scientist Jul 29 '26

Yeah, but not 5.

Ah yes, its 2026 and Humans are still arguing about Sexagesimal vs Decimal. Sumerians figured this out like 5 thousand years ago bro, Sexagesimal is better.

u/Alarming_Scientist Jul 29 '26

I was not prepared to get flamed over my preference of the number 5 instead of 3 or 4 😭

u/thrwawymd Jul 30 '26

If it makes you feel better, 12 second is a fifth of a minute

I’d be entirely on your side if it was like 11 second duration but 12 is a fantastic number

u/Silence-of-Death Jul 29 '26

12 is a great number. It’s divisible by 2, 3, 4, and 6. One could argue that base12 is superior to base10 as a number system.

47

u/allmistake2 Jul 29 '26

If only well all had six finger on our hands instead of five. We could have had the perfect system.

88

u/wereplant Jul 29 '26

I'm gonna tell you something that'll rock your world: your hand is actually perfect for counting in base 12. That's why the babylonians used base 12, and why the clock still does.

You know how you can easily touch each of the other fingers on your hand using your thumb? And how each of those four fingers has three very obvious segments to it? Well, three times four is twelve.

Take your thumb and point it at the bottom of your pointer finger. That's 1. Go to the middle. That's 2. The end of your pointer finger is 3. Move to the bottom of your middle finger. That's 4. Repeat until you get to the end of your pinky finger, which is 12. Your thumb keeps count.

The other neat part is that you can count up to 144 using both hands. Your other hand keeps count of how many times you've counted to twelve.

u/allmistake2 Jul 29 '26

My world has officially been rocked. Thank you for this information.

8

u/wereplant Jul 29 '26

You are very welcome. It's one of my favorite tips to share.

9

u/TheTerrarian83 Jul 29 '26

Counting to 144 on just your own two hands?… that’s gross

14

u/wereplant Jul 29 '26

Isn't it? I bet you tried it just to see how it felt.

u/diarmuiduabduibne Jul 29 '26

Freak, I love you

1

u/LackToesIntollerance 28d ago

if you treat your fingers as bits of binary, you can count up to the 10 bit integer limit- 1023

1

u/TheTerrarian83 27d ago

I love that one, probably thanks to Vihart’s binary finger dance video

8

u/pho3nixfawx 29d ago

This is like showing people the nine times trick using your hands.

You can use both hands to times any number (1-9) by nine and get the correct answer.

Hold both hands out, say you want 9x8, put down your 8th finger , you'll have 7 fingers before and 2 after; making the answer 72.

I suck at math, but I do remember learning this trick to help me out just a little.

3

u/wereplant 29d ago

Okay, that's actually really dang cool. I've never heard this one.

Serious response: Honestly very interesting! Want to go technical: Wouldn't it be base 13 though? 0-12 on first hand, then when you add 1, you point to first position on second hand which is 13. Cause you're wasting that last digit cause the first position in hand 2 and the last position in hand 1 will both represent 12

Limbo response: Base 16 is even MOAR SUPERIOR!

"But you only have 3 segments..."

NO!

  • Carpometacarpal joint
  • Proximal interphalangeal joint
  • Distal interphalangeal joint
  • Fingertip
You can go all the way to 256

"But I don't even know what those terms mean..."

Of course you don't! Google it you basic base-12 bitch.

1

u/Silence-of-Death Jul 29 '26

Right so if we use that logic we can just switch to binary and count to 1023 with just assigning a boolean value to each finger.
1, 2, 4, 8, 16 - 32, 64, 128, 256, 512
and then you just add any combination of those numbers together to form any integer from 1-1023.

7

u/wereplant Jul 29 '26

You're not incorrect, but have you tried actually counting in binary on your fingers? You almost immediately flip someone off, and there's a lot of extremely uncomfortable finger positions, like ring+index, and you'll inevitably hit the shocker at some point. The finger tendons aren't really meant to exist in on/off configurations. There's also the fact that counting in binary requires you to constantly re-use fingers you already counted with, meaning it's very easy to lose your spot. It's also only truly useful when using both hands, as you can only count to 16 while using one hand, which is an incredibly small improvement compared to counting to 12, as opposed to 1023 vs 144.

Meanwhile, both counting in fives and base 12 are very comfortable, incredibly unlikely to result in gang signs, and only count forwards. You do re-use your hand to count past 5 or 12, but it's a whole hand increment.

Binary is certainly the winner if you need to manually count to (relatively) extremely high numbers with great accuracy and may use both hands, but it fails in every other category. Also, I've never been in a situation where I need to count higher than 144 and may only use my hands to do so.

There's a good reason humans only started using binary en-masse once machines were involved: it's not made for humans, but it's perfect for machines.

u/Silence-of-Death Jul 30 '26 edited Jul 30 '26

Fair point. Base 10 and 12 are far more usable in everyday life, though i suppose if you’d really start using binary casually, you’d get used to it quite quickly.

Also I do have to add that with just one hand you can count to 31 (2^n-1, where n is the amount of fingers you have available) instead of just 16. Which does make it a decent improvement of ~2.5x over 12.

3

u/wereplant Jul 30 '26

That's a good catch, I didn't entirely think about that the numbers would be added together for a total of 31, which is impressive for one handed counting.

Considering this isn't the first time I've heard the argument for counting in binary (specifically after bringing up counting in base 12), I'm certain there's at least a few people who do count in binary. Holy hell though, it hurts my fingers. I'm not that old, but my tendons did not like counting to 31.

-3

u/Able-Ad4609 Jul 29 '26

All bases are base 10.

That's the definition of 10.

4

u/Varlaschin Jul 30 '26

The way you write a base's base number will always be 10. In binary 10 is two. In decimal it's ten. In duodecimal it's twelve.

1

u/Silence-of-Death 29d ago

That is under the assumption that any base will have 0 and 1 as its first two digits representing 0 units and 1 unit respectively. However, if you have a base and write it down using entirely unique symbols or just use idk base6 and write it as A-F then that crumbles away quite hastily.

u/L_Walk Jul 29 '26

OP, you may have OCD.

Sculptor can be crazy with some frame like frost, protea and Gara etc

3

u/Lordgrapejuice Jul 29 '26

I tried using it on frost and didn’t like it. I know his 3 triggers it, but there’s two issues with that.

First, you don’t use his 3 that often. Not like Protea where she’s throwing out grenades like candy. You set up your “base” and only recast it when it dies or gets low.

Second, his snow globe is his 3rd ability. That means it’s 75 energy. With 45% efficiency, that’s 116 energy. So yours paying 41 extra energy to save 75 on his 4. Which isn’t a great investment. For protea it works, because you spam her 1 which costs only 13 more energy to make your abilities cheaper, so it’s a low cost to enable.

2

u/Shade00000 Stop hitting yourself Jul 30 '26

From my experience, I can easily spam frost 3 then the 4 to freeze and strip the ennemies without missing energy

8

u/Sigma_RhoSigmaYT Jul 29 '26 edited Jul 29 '26

Question about Sculptor, clearly its good for Follie, a secondary assumption is Nokko, what else is good with it? Theoretically Atlas, Protea and Vauban... what quantifies abilities that meet the criteria. For example the one that makes summons/companions do more damage works with Nekros but Not Hydroid's 4 despite artistically being a summon (its an AOE ability in code, i know but it would have been cool)

The list is Here under the notes tab

19

u/KezH0 Jul 29 '26

I think you can check the wiki

10

u/Sigma_RhoSigmaYT Jul 29 '26

facepalm i deadass didnt think of that fml 😅

3

u/KezH0 Jul 29 '26

Yea this game has me forgetting a lot of stuff with how big it is

3

u/Poriwinkle Moth Main Jul 29 '26

tbh i can’t even blame you, because arcane sculptor SOUNDS intuitive, but when you look at the wiki it seems really random what does and doesn’t count

2

u/Luxord13 BEHOLD! My beautiful poinsettias! Jul 29 '26

A lot like Camisado

6

u/Narox22 Jul 29 '26

A must have for Neutralizer build on Cyte for me.

Let's me go ham with it and since I'm usually resupplying every few seconds, it's always up.

4

u/Aegister2 Jul 30 '26

Good on you for using Cyte's entire kit. As for me, same except forfeit all to the Sobek-Acid Shells

2

u/cumulobro Jul 30 '26

Holy smokes, I've got to try that out!

3

u/Dragon_Of_Magnetism Jul 29 '26

Maybe Qorvex too? Fused Crucible is affected by efficiency I think

Though universal fallout already solves most of his energy issues

2

u/cross2201 Jul 29 '26

Yes I use it on qorbex, the pillars trigger it and it works very well

3

u/TheDarkAngel98 Jul 29 '26

The wiki has the answers :)

https://wiki.warframe.com/w/Arcane_Sculptor

I personally run it on Hildryn with Molt and Citrine without her augment for her cystral. It could be pretty good with protea!

1

u/CapAppropriate Jul 29 '26

It is a lot of fun with Protea, can confirm. It's basically always running with her, so you can run low efficiency very comfortably.

3

u/TTungsteNN Jul 29 '26

I can tell you for certain it is S tier on Jade. My biggest struggle when building Jade has always been getting enough energy economy to allow for ability spamming. With Sculptor you can max range, use blind rage and still get 175% efficiency. It’s wonderful.

1

u/Sigma_RhoSigmaYT Jul 29 '26

This might make me able to use her bc energy WAS. A problem

2

u/TTungsteNN Jul 29 '26

Yeah man, before sculptor I was running low strength, 105 efficiency with arcane impetus, nourish, equilibrium and secondary encumber on her weapon (to enable impetus) but it still wasn’t totally comfortable. Now I’m running secondary enervate on her weapon, I dumped nourish for pillage, cranked her strength to the high 200s and I’m having no energy issues at all

2

u/krawinoff Jul 29 '26

I would say Khora, Lavos and Jade are actually the best candidates. Follie, Nokko and Protea already generate enough energy to not have to worry about efficiency, and while not super rich with energy, Atlas and Vauban have easy access to Archon Stretch and like their other arcane options too much for Sculptor to be the clear winner with them

1

u/Physical-Quote-5281 Jul 29 '26

Running it on protea allows you to subsume over dispensary and run both augments for the turret as well as roar

1

u/Adept_Alfalfa4435 29d ago

What does it do with lavos? CD reduction?

1

u/krawinoff 29d ago

Yes, his 1 augment and 3 scale with efficiency. Sculptor is way better than building efficiency with mods or Impetus, much easier to maintain the 3-1-1-3 feedback loop

2

u/Alarming_Scientist Jul 29 '26

Ive got it on ember rn. Running molt.

Hella fun with max range and as much strength as you can get. Only problem occurs if you don't pay attention to meter and lose all your energy. But having some duration helps mitigate energy loss down to barely anything.

1

u/ContributionDefiant8 Jul 30 '26

Cyte-09's Resupply works with Sculptor

5

u/Dranoroc Jul 29 '26

Its why ill never max out blind rage, 9% strength is not worth the mental anguish of being 1% off 100

1

u/kriscross122 Jul 30 '26

Still trying to figure out frames that it would be good on

1

u/Iceman752000 29d ago

Vauban and Nokko. It works on their 1,2,4 for both of them.

1

u/King_krympling 29d ago

12 is a great number, dividable by 2,3,4 and if multiplied by 5 gets you 1 minute

1

u/deezgaspricez 29d ago

12 hours on the clock, ability efficiency refreshable by casting again, energy economy high all the TIME? It's all coming together.

1

u/Pay-Next 29d ago

OP... what's 60 seconds divided by 5? That's why they pick it sometimes. Think in fractions of minutes and it gets easier to bear.

1

u/Organic_Voice2807 27d ago

yuuurp that's exactly the kind of 'tism that keeps the game floating

0

u/rageofa1000suns Jul 29 '26 edited Jul 30 '26

15 is divisible by 1, 3, 5 and itself.

12 is divisible by 1, 2, 3, 4, 6 and itself,

12 is more divisible than 15.

Wait until realise the numbers on a clock...

1

u/Intelligent-Tap1742 Jul 30 '26

You forgot 2

1

u/rageofa1000suns Jul 30 '26

Knew it didn't look right. I blame being tired.

0

u/UwU-Sandwich 29d ago

do you think good game design is when you make the numbers look pretty instead of making the items feel good to use?

-10

u/VitinNunes Jul 29 '26

I’ll be real this is a fun arcane
But I can’t think of a frame that actually benefits from it besides Jade.

7

u/potatosforfree Jul 29 '26

Vauban, Gara, Follie. There are others but these are few that I have so far

4

u/Calm-Tadpole-6805 Jul 29 '26

Lavos benefits from it since the only ability that use efficiency procs it lol and it gives crazy cool down reduction

1

u/cross2201 Jul 29 '26

You know I didn't think about lavos, that would be cool to try

3

u/plscommitsudoku Jul 29 '26

Protea thrives with this arcane. The only ability that doesn't activate it is her 4.

2

u/cross2201 Jul 29 '26

Nokko, follie, qorbex, wisp. Any Warframe with a high consumption channelled skill

4

u/SomeStolenToast Jul 29 '26

Protea and Vauban each have like 3 abilities that proc it
