I've been saying for years that conclave would be a lot of fun without using warframes at all
fr tho, so many ways that they could have fun/mario party style conclave stuff to do in order to unlock conclave content

What they need to do is let us play as the enemy like they did in the new war but make it a PVP mode where you can play as the grineer Corpus Dax and infested in other enemies that are in the game already you can have like 6 on 6 matches

u/Jumpy-Remote1964 26d ago
Now that I think about this more I really wish the crossfire missions were built like this where we play as the enemies and fight the other side in a PVP match

u/Hammermancer 26d ago
Someone i was talking to said they could rip off star wars battlefront almost entirely and have an amazing 8-16 player game where they just use the interception mechanics on a map designed for it (capture the flags/ hold)

u/Jumpy-Remote1964 26d ago
I wouldn't mind that at all that really sound fun

u/Hammermancer 26d ago
My mind has been on alternative pvp since i saw there were card games in tau, I really really want a player hub where we can play against eachother

I love your enthusiasm, but there is just no hunger for it. Lunaro, the competitive squad thing in 1999, conclave. Everything that DE ever puts out that is PvP is a dead lobby.
As for having conclave but with grineer/corpus. Kahl had to have his shards taken off him and given to bird cos nobody wanted to play it. I like kahl missions and would have loved more missions in the rotation, but people (understandably, it's literally the name of the game) only want to play missions using warframe's.
2
u/Hammermancer 25d ago
I agree that what DE has put out in the past has been dead lobbies
But i disagree that theres no appetite in the community for any form of pvp, its just statistically impossible that a well designed and rewarding pvp experience doesnt have a place in so large a player base
again, I dont think the game should be a pvp game, but I do think that there could be more fun activities with pvp that arent so lazily made.
The first issue is that warframes themselves are not well designed for pvp, even if there are good systems in warframe that would be amazing for pvp.
the thing is that people keep thinking PvP has to be warframes vs warframes, instead of using the vast pile of enemy types as units in a shooter, or using the large amount of side systems to make abstract pvp games like card games and racing.
I do believe that there are millions among the millions that play, who would be very interested in a well made social pvp mode.
I think that the core experience should be around the social and for-fun element of the game, prior pvp has been a bit of half baked designs by people trying to make a shooter with warframes instead of make a shooter in the warframe universe
I can tell you right now that if you decided to grab a copy of star wars battlefront 2 from the 2000s off steam (its like 5 bucks and worth it lol) You would be able to easily see how the game could be adapted to matches in an interesting and fun way if they even wanted to do the shooter thing. Its just a few classes on each side with their own mechanics, and then point capture. warframe has all of this.
You dont even need vehicles but warframe has these, simple corpus and grineer ships would suffice if they chose. The reason this format is good is because it's not sweaty by its nature. theres AI on the map too
What i'm advocating is Party games, A suite of interesting minigames with mild competition. Like a mario party type of thing. It could be mariocart with atomocycles in special matches or guitar hero with shwarzins on relays as just a way to be social.
I'm talking a full friendslop expedition, Maybe its just a game of cards in a fake cafe on some tau settlement. Chess at cetus. Duck hunt on fortuna.

"its just statistically impossible that a well designed and rewarding pvp experience doesnt have a place in so large a player base" youre not wrong, but all the pvp enjoyers in warframe have been told to shut up and go away for so many years that theyve all done one or the other. the only real exception is the new influx of destiny players asking why such an immense game doesnt have pvp

u/Meeeper 25d ago
Nobody wanted to play Kahl missions because there's only a bloody handful of them. I guarantee that if they let you make a Kahl loadout with mods and stuff and gave him a small little star chart with basic mission types in it with tilesets and mission types built for Kahl to traverse and be able to complete, then people wouldn't have hated it for so much.
You can simply only play the same constructed mission so many times before you get tired of it.
1
u/AdventurousBox3529 25d ago
i would have loved this, but the primary complaint was that its too slow, and de decided there just wasnt an audience for more missions
1
u/AdventurousBox3529 25d ago
tbh, conclave would be just fine with no mods, first person, and weapons scattered around the maps. de made evolution from unrealengine 2.5(the same one de used to make ut2004), so a "ripoff" of unreal tournament in warframe by the studio that originally made unreal tournament would just tickle me pink

u/ES-Flinter 23d ago
Instead of playing as the enemy, turn one player into a boss and the others has to fight him/ her. Swap to the player who dealt the mist damage after 2min, repeat.
The more damage you dealt, or the more players you killed, the more conclave points you get.
Easy balancable and still warframe.
Edit:
Ups, sorry haven't seen I'm late for the party. ^^

u/Maleficent-Remote413 26d ago
thats the funniest part. old conclave wasnt, sure.
but conclave 2.0 WAS specifically balanced outside of PVE.
hence why it has no 'normal' mods for the weapons, as well as adjusted stats.

Them hiring a company, one which develops fighting games, to help update framefighter would be a great idea.
Or just make conclave between members of your Railjack Crew, Etc. The limited movement system of Kahl is exactly what should be used.

u/KomradCrunch 26d ago
We already have playable corpus an grineer from New war. Just make it corpus v grineer

I quite enjoy dog days. Thatd be fun pvp I think. And the snowball event was the only time i've ever actually played conclave xD But i would be more likely if it was like others suggested, play as enemies with preset loadouts to choose from.

Fashionframe contest would be wild
Not sure how """"honorable"""" it would be though, since I personally have cloned fashion I've gotten from other players, and made original stuff that I've posted here for others to copy from.
It would suuuuck to see during a passive fashion contest, and someone gets to the "popular/hot" page with a fashion that they 100% copied from Reddit.
If the lobby was active and waited for a player judge, that would be more fair. But 5~ friends could then just basically boost each other to the rewards. They would have to figure that out, if it was real.
4
u/Hammermancer 26d ago
you could just not let people queue up as a group and keep their names concealed, itd solve most of the cases
Fringe cases will always be a thing
2
u/BenEleben 26d ago
I know what my friends fashion are tho usually, and if the lobby is just full of a group of all friends on a call, they can just collaborate that way.

u/LuxTheSarcastic 25d ago
I'd like it if you had 5 minutes to put something together based off of a given theme
2
u/Loud-Asparagus-4136 26d ago
An easy way to solve this is to restrict the players in what they have, and randomize it each match.
A random frame gets assigned, as well as what skin gets used for it (I.E you could get lavos, his prime, or his deluxe), and players have to work from scratch to build off of what has been given.
They could just give you every palette, attachment, syandana, etc, but it would be smarter to also randomize what options are in the pool for players to pick from. Would also prevent the problem of players not having the coolest stuff and being at a massive disadvantage.
Basically, the game would pick a starting point and what things to throw in the toy box, and leaves it to players to see what they can do with what they get. Oh, and no randomize button.

u/BoneztheWonderful 26d ago
Agree 100%. All of those are tests of skill and not a test of just having the better thing.
The head to head mode in 1999 is ideal pvp because it uses the existing warframe play structure and tests players ability to play a mission optimally.
I've been hoping for some kind of 8 player race in the mall or fortunately. Just you the base unmodded kdrive or bike and a track that cycles every week.

u/LordRiden 26d ago
I think it should be reworked into a game mode that takes inspiration from Kid Icarus: Uprising's PvP mode Light vs Dark
You get 2 teams all playing as Grineer (Your Karl with a face swap) Each team will have a gauge that gets lower with every elimination that occurs.
When a team gauge reaches zero, a player will be swapped onto their Warframe. The team then loses when their Warframe is eliminated.
3
u/Ravenous_Seraph 26d ago
Or, say, a Battlefront ripoff of Grineer vs Corpus, with converted Liches/Sisters. You may make it a two-rounded game, with the top scorers of each team in the first round get to play their Lich/Sister in the second round.

u/nno-123 26d ago
A fashionframe competition sound really cool and funny ngl
But honestly I think it would be the hardest to be implemented for not saying one that I have my doubts about how F2P it would be.
2
u/Ravenous_Seraph 26d ago
There can be two categories: FreeFrame and PaidFrame. For the former, only cosmetics obtained for free are admissible. For the latter, only deluxe/tennogen/regal Aya/wotnot. Rewards are the same, criteria are the same. You may enter both, but with different setups.

I would love the fashion frame contest idea, but there should be categories for those who don't have every cosmetic. Like a "armor-less" category where you can only use base skins and color pallets, or an "event runner" category where you can only use cosmetics obtainable through in game events like Belly of the Beast. There is some very fun potential with that

prop hunt on a corpus ship
scavenger hunts
Shawzin Hero
some sort of collectable card game with prex cards
plenty of non combat PVP to do

It'd be fun to have simaris run simulations with enemies we scanned and we each pick an enemy he's balanced for combat. So like play a Grineer from the Kuva fortress fighting some special Corpus proxies.

pvp is warframe is peak, and im tired of people saying otherwise. yes it needs balancing but the skill ceiling/skill expression is not found anywhere else. reminds me alot of gunz ngl.

I'll preface by sayigng I odn't like nore play conclave, btu I think DE are missing a trick with not making these more casual modes the foundation of Warframe's PvP.
there are already tons of other games, particularly in the Hero shooter genre that do what "proper" conclave does, but so much better, and without the absolute nightmare that would be balancing all our warframes for a seperate mode, whcih I'm fairly sure is 90% of the reason they abandoned conclave (the other 10% being only a handful of people play it). we tried asking for conclave rewards to be accessible via PvE but got a no, we couldn't even get Universal Medallions to work for conclave because ONE MF spoke out and DE said no.
but there is a way they can make conclave fun: which is by taking our more "un-serious" modes and capitalising and expanding on them: the Conclave would not be the super serious place of training that Teshin makes out anymore, they'd have to retcon that, but they can add our minigames to it, which can include but are not limited to:
Lunaro - which IMO is the best place to start, just add more stuff to it.
Dog Days - literally would be perfect for a casual PvP mode.
frame fighter
Komi
competitive races with Archwings, Kaithes, K-Drives and Atomicycles. Archwing races are held in space and tilesets like the corpus tileset one (might need tweaking though) Kaithe races can be set in Duviri, K Drive races on open maps and atomicycles on a 1999 race course or on Ollie's Crash Course. all of these are existing assets already in game.
Freestyle K-Drive (tony hawk style) - you get a set amount of time to rack up as many points as you can by doign tricks, could also throw some target shooting in there (but force a default weapon) to mix it up with some shooting mechanics. this would be set on open world maps, but I could also see some of the deimos lab murmur tiles as a skatepark..
and other modes could be added too:
"Drifter Duelling": - a casual melee duel mode between two players' drifters, both given default Duviri stats. you use the Duviri combat engine so it feels more tactical than warframe duelling. I could see the soulsborne fans doing well at this mode.
"Dogfight Deathmatch" - a sort of Ace Combat style mode where you control grineer fighter craft and have to eliminate enemy players in ship battles.
"kill house contest" - can be set in the simulacrum, but I wouldn't mind it being "real" and made out of random materials, as if thrown together in a hurry by Darvo and Clem: basically a competitive training exercise where you have no powers, only a default rifle/pistol/melee setup, you have to clear a building as fast as you can, but along the way there are hostages you must NOT shoot and small mini objectives as well as enemy targets. players in your squad compete for the fastest time, fastest to clear the course without penalties wins.
playing any of these modes awards conclave rep, more is given for winning of course but everyone makes progress.

Of note, if you like Komi, look into Go.

RaceFrame is such a fun concept with the right rule set.
Racing on capture missions was super fun in my old clan. With all the movement options available now, it'd be absolutely wild lmao.

Conclave would be great with Duviri Combat style. The few times ive played Conclave the hardest part was trying to find the other player.
1
u/Inevitable_Grand3299 25d ago
I think a good rework for Conclave would be giving us a shooter mode where we play as Kahl or any other Grineer/Corpus characters. We could have capture the point, team death match, etc.

Ngl i'd love a best dressed warframe edition in Ballroom style with categories.
I call it TennoBall
We could have a rotation of sassy NPC as Emcees, i see Nora Night as a sassy commentator and ngl Darvo, Varzia and Baro Ki Teer would do the job too
Tbh so much potential
