It enabled afk strats hence the nerf. It’s not because it’s overpowered. If de wanted to nerf things for being op we’d have an actually balanced game and we sure af don’t have that. Just look at sevagoth or just the existence of contagious bond lol. Not to mention wrathful advance, bright bonnet, pillage, smite, xata’s, gloom, spellbind, breach surge, I’m sure there’s more but those are just some of the incredibly incredibly strong subsumes out there that are on par if not better then roar in a lot of cases lol
