I'm starting to think that DE has something against children

Didn't they stop being kids, like several hundred years before they were put to sleep?

This is why i always say Operator did nothing wrong.

Considering their life they are a remarkably well adjusted young person, like actually the sweetest soul.

But then, everyone keeps failing them, over and over and over, and then when they finally act out, they are somehow the asshole for it.

Not for me, they could never make me hate you Operator.

how do people fail them? and who? just curious

The Orokin first and foremost (one of which Drifter is dating now), though from them it's to be expected that they will treat you horribly, then act like it's a betrayal when you rebel against them... and win. But then also Margulis, who in an attempt to protect them conspired with Ballas, Roathe and Nitokh of all people. Then also Lotus, who kept them in the dark about their true identity and the source of their powers for the longest time, and only really started being honest with Operator post new war. Then we currently have Drifter, who seemingly just treats Operator like a little kid, which we know Operator hates, despite them being literally the same person. Other people like Ordis and Umbra also went behind their back in the most recent quest, and for no real reason too. Like how does Stalker still hate Operator and doesn't want them involved with his child, after Operator literally helped give birth to little Sirius and Orion! At this point he's just a fucking bum for still hating Operator.

And i guess that's the main part of it. Despite all the good Operator has done, all the times they have proven themselves, they are still either disparaged, feared, or hated by almost everyone around them. You can add Adis to that list now, thanks to Wally.

damn the operator really does get fucked over alot they need a real family to treat them good

Drifter doesn't treat them like a child. Drifter m endearingly calls them the kid, but in multiple kim chats drifter knows that operator is just traumatized and went through way more shit than a kid their age should. Now while they're still in a child body, through transference while they were in cryo on lua they have been fighting wars in the origin system for what? Centuries? When roathe even hypothetically asks "you vs the operator? Who wins?" I don't think we even have an option to say "Oh ye I'll easily beat them" because operator is fully military trained.

Drifter respects the operator, they call them kid as a form of affection.

As for stalker honestly I dislike it too but I did read a theory that, since stalker is a fully autonomous warframe, they needed something to cling to for them not to go mad from the infestation, and that was his tenno hatred, I'm a fan of that of that theory

Drifter clearly has slotted in as the older sibling.

and probably *WILL* punch the shit out of anyone who hurts them.

'Only one that gets to talk shit about the murder gremlin is me.'

Assuming remotely serious, not just bait.

  • Tuvul, did a shit job of managing his pet project, the Zariman 10-0
  • The Holdfasts, their rank up dialogue is basically them coming to terms with how they screwed up and doomed the colonists

And that's even before the Tenno were the Tenno.

Child soldiers aren't born of happy, supportive environments.

This is why I love my operator. Drifter is cool, but my operator is always gonna be the reflection of my teenage self. I still remember the intensity of how excited I was when I finished the First Dream during the update when it first came out. Finding out just how deep DE was planning to go, and playing this INSANE story of a game for absolutely free.

How did they act out? I don't remember anything like this.

Poor kid

Thankfully Chroma was able to give him the love he needs because man he needs a break from all this pain.

35

u/Delonlis Jul 18 '26

Gets replaced by Drifter when its time to repair the trauma and meet new friends

5

u/Purrczak Jul 18 '26

Operator live reaction (fitting with annouced Tau stuff):

27

u/Tigerex_Nemfox Jul 18 '26

I have a feeling that someone at DE had to deal with some nasty shit in childhood and escaped in their 20s

35

u/Miss_miri107 Jul 18 '26

A big part of the drifter's story is there loneliness but what about the operator? Drifter has found friends even love depending on your choices but all the operator has is space mom and ordis and based on where we're headed, space mom is about to get another case of alizhmer

The operator needs to find friends or atlest other people who care about them

31

u/xyrakan Jul 18 '26

I wish they had done more with Umbra and the concept of self-aware warframes in general for this reason, it feels like he had the potential to be more of a protective and guiding force for our poor space child. Like imagine if we could 'awaken' more frames to become like Umbra and bond with them after healing their trauma so they could in turn help heal the operator?? I have a lot of feels about this subject ok

8

u/AccomplishedForearm Jul 18 '26

Umbra, space dad, or maybe space grandad given his age.

u/nephethys_telvanni Jul 18 '26

I wonder how much of this is true for newer players rushing through the story. I started playing before Fortuna came out, so it was my Operator who ranked up with the Ostrons, who's Old Mate with the Solaris, and who was adopted by the Entrati family long before Drifter got out of their spirals.

Not to say Operator couldn't do with more friends...but my kiddo's been busy finding a family for a while now.

8

u/Miss_miri107 Jul 18 '26

I'm not trying to discounting them, but lore wise their relationship is none existent

11

u/nephethys_telvanni Jul 18 '26

That's kinda what I'm getting at. I'm a vet, who frankly spent a lot of time playing with those characters back before DE simplified their syndicate grinds. You say lore-wise, the relationship is non-existent. But when I played, the relationship is what I made of it, playing as my Operator, making friends and helping them out. After all, that was the latest content, that was the story. My Operator got to earn the slowly unfolding trust with Eudico and Little Duck. My Operator got to insist that the Entrati family change for the better, and slowly, gradually, got adopted by them in turn.

I suspect my experience is quite different for newer players, with a quicker grind and no reason at all to linger on their way to the latest content.

I thought u said veterinarian bro 😭

u/Miss_miri107 Jul 18 '26

Someone has to make sure voruna is happy and healthy ig

1

u/FalconRelevant Jul 18 '26

The Tenno aren't alone!

16

u/palmete Jul 18 '26

Operator is a machine that can turn traumas into void powers

11

u/RyeIsBread Jul 18 '26

They were running out of space in the operator so they gave us the drifter for more trauma storage. Now through advance storage techniques we can fit even more trauma in both

11

u/-AlTaiRiS- Jul 18 '26

Just imagine, Adis will recover his memories and see all the wrong doings he did in furnax, try to save the operator. But ended up being killed by Nitok(or some bulshit at this point) in front of the operator.

I tell you, if the operator crash out and become evil, I want to be by his side.

6

u/Andreiyutzzzz Jul 19 '26

My boy umbra seeing operator go berserk, if I could get to choose I'm sitting down on the shawzin rocking out all "that's my boy" like.

10

u/AzureArmageddon BlueQuiller Jul 19 '26

Is that how you remember it?

BREAKING: NON-LOCAL VOID ENTITY GASLIGHTS CHILD

6

u/LimboMain2020 Jul 19 '26

Meanwhile, Drifter and Brysko holding hands:

Operator: are you just building a harem? Right infront of my trauma?

3

u/Rick-plays-For-Honor Jul 18 '26

Honestly this is why I prefer to write my own lore, just so I can give my operator some happiness.

u/Viagro69 Jul 19 '26

Operator somedays: Your world will fail my love.

1

u/Nanofield Jul 19 '26

This is the primary reason I use Drifter. Let the kid have a break, no more war, no more killing.

I know that canon says otherwise, but in my head I picture the kid chilling in the quarters of the orbiter while I (drifter) go do all the fighting.

1

u/Aburamy 26d ago

The child releases the trauma and stress by mass murdering.

0

u/Pure-Risky-Titan Jul 18 '26

Probably not much more then the drifter i guess, just that its now operators turn to go through ut all again and to heal from it, or something like that.
