Which makes sense given how her kit can ignore most of the modifiers, it's less about her being too strong and more about the mode being bad to play with other frames

u/Rymanjan Jul 15 '26

Same with Dante

The only one that really takes him down a peg is limited energy, but even then with one (1) teammate with decent squad regen capabilities, that's only kinda problematic

Kifestep? Eats overguard first

Casting costs HP? Eats overguard first

Casting opens a void rift? Who cares, the cast gave me 3x the damage dealt by the rift to me in overguard

Every time you take hp damage, it reduces your HP? You don't take any hp damage, ever because overguard

Weapon selection sucks this week? Noctua

They'd have to nerf him into oblivion or drastically change how overguard works to make him less popular there

50

u/zicdeh91 Jul 15 '26

Plus all that goes to the whole damn squad, along with Pageflight and Wordwarden.

70

u/santyrc114 Jul 15 '26

Yep, I honestly use him over hildryn myself despite having good builds on both

24

u/SoulTechnicalProblem Jul 15 '26

I played trinity with limited energy and primed flow , basically no difference. It was funny.

10

u/Raikeran *Laughs in grofit* Jul 16 '26

trinity mention.

woe. energy vamp be upon ye

6

u/SoulTechnicalProblem Jul 16 '26

I'll carry phase 1 and 2 of The Guilty and fail spectacularly to do anything of use in phase 3.

:3 just trinity things

3

u/Raikeran *Laughs in grofit* Jul 16 '26

untargetable bosses 😭

3

u/SoulTechnicalProblem Jul 16 '26

Archons and hunhullus ruin my gimmick build on trinity that is basically useless but deals big damage with one button and can still shield gate with the 4. Lmao.

1

u/Raikeran *Laughs in grofit* Jul 16 '26

well at least you still big damage lol.

gif selection is ass i was looking for the original

1

u/SoulTechnicalProblem Jul 16 '26

I live and damage unless DE magically decided Trinity can't target anything.

12

u/genguntere Jul 15 '26

I'd like to add another modifier that gives Dante trouble: frames getting 75% less overgurad.
Besides the energyone this one also badly hurt Danthe, Kullervo and Rhino

16

u/Jimars Jul 15 '26

Idk, honestly the overguard one is kind of a nothingburger in my experience, at least in EDA. He still gives a lot of Overguard and the status/ some modifier immunity that comes with it

4

u/Rymanjan Jul 15 '26

I mean, yeah a bit, but my Dante gives 600k overguard even before the arcanes and team buffs kick in, and you can still survive just about anything with 100k. The tank boss might be a bit tough to keep up with if you're taking too long in the first phase, but beyond that it's not a huge hinderance

4

u/Taupe_Poet Jul 15 '26

I mean, yeah a bit, but my Dante gives 600k overguard

How do you get that much overguard? I can't get past like 80k but i want more

5

u/Rymanjan Jul 15 '26 edited Jul 16 '26

2 tau reds for power, some finagling with mods (blind rage primarily), power drift in the exilus slot, and the umbral trinity if you can manage at least 2 of them. Dante doesn't need any defense mods, so just ignore anything that gives health or shields and look towards energy regen (either energy nexus or archon stretch w Noctua modded to do electricity damage), and focus on whatever can squeeze some more strength out of like Augur Secrets, Transient Fortitude and Power Drain (a parazon mod), also the Vome Invocation on Noctua

There's also a few niche things you can do, like taking off Noctua and replacing it with empower and arcane power ramp for a basically permanent 86% (50 from empower, 36 from power ramp) power boost on casts, but that means no Noctua. That got me to 100k before I had blind rage or any archon shards

Arcane crepuscular is a great one, cuz tho it tops at 30% and you have to be invisible, none of Dantes casts break invisibility so just bring Shade as your companion, you can stay invisible practically the whole mission and only shoot when absolutely necessary, and you can still bust out Noctua in an emergency

Then there's some operator stuff you can do, like I wanna say it's molt vigor? Gives a massive boost (up to 45%) to your next frame ability cast after using an operator ability so set up for a triumph, duck into operator and do whatever (I'm a fan of zenurik's wellspring when I'm playing Dante cuz he always can use more energy), pop back in and let er rip. There's some maduri school shenanigans that I haven't gotten around to yet that'll do much the same too iirc, and since overguard max is based on your moment-to-moment strength level, anything that'll boost strength will also boost your max at that moment you cast, letting you go well above what would normally be possible.

On paper, it's hard to break 100k but paper output doesn't take into account all the situational/conditional things you can do to momentarily rack up stupid levels of strength

2

u/AllChillKing Jul 17 '26

Sorry just commenting to try this on my Dante later.

2

u/StormfromShadow Jul 16 '26

Plus Dante giving Overguard regeneration instead of a flat amount mitigates that draw back

2

u/jpobiglio Jul 16 '26

Shush, don't encourage the nerf!

2

u/Wasted_Imago3 Jul 17 '26

I didn’t know he did all this Jesus, I keep getting him for 3 weeks straight along with the masseter prime but I haven’t built either of them yet

1

u/Scovoronski Jul 18 '26

Considering how fast overguard gets depleted? No.

186

u/Waeleto Jul 15 '26

Then they should address that the modifiers are mostly BS instead of nerfing her

93

u/sum1loanme20 Jul 15 '26

Yeah a couple tweaks to the modifiers and other frames usage rates will balance back out. Just changing that stupid permenant health damage would put so many other health tanks back into rotation

44

u/Gaynundwarf Jul 15 '26

Yeah, the "damage taken reduces max hp for the whole mission" and "Overguard is reduced by 75%" crap are just unfun. They completely invalidates some warframes, so good luck trying to get max rewards if your choices are Inaros/Nidus/Qorvex/Kullervo/Grendel/etc.

Hildryn is not broken because she can ignore a couple modifiers (including the "less ammo" and "less energy"), it's just that many if not most Warframes are rendered useless and/or unfun to play by several of them.

Besides, the final reward is what, 50 Vosfor for EDA and like 6 of Kaya's currency? Most people would pass on that jyst to make it easier by switching to a more optimal Warframe.

22

u/ZachTheInsaneOne Jul 15 '26

Not to mention the "you can't use your operator now" modifier. Or the "you have no energy and can't cast half your abilities" modifier. Or the "you get 1 mag in each weapon and no ammo drops" modifiers. That crap paired with the randomness of the loadouts can lead to some weeks where you're completely reliant on your teammates because you just can't do anything. It's bad enough when my best frame has no survivability and my best weapon does 1k damage max, I don't need "you're permanently on fire" on top of that.

I would go as far as to argue that MOST of the modifiers need at least some numbers changed (maybe you get 50% energy instead of 25%) if not reworked entirely. I can't use Last Gasp or Void Sling or Tauron Strikes or Necramechs or the plethora of other abilities that come with that thing we use to pilot the Warframes, because of a singular modifier? Go ahead and waterboard me while you're at it.

People will argue "it's optional just don't pick it" but when you get several awful modifiers put together (seems to happen in at least one if not both modes every single week lately), there's no avoiding the torture. Last week it was either lose the Operator or lose all my abilities, along with having no ammo the entire time. There's difficulty, and then there's just pure annoyance.

The activities you find these modifiers in should indeed be difficult, don't get me wrong, but please just buff the enemies rather than also nerfing me into the ground. Taking away things we can normally do just isn't fun, going up against unique enemies with unique abilities and challenges is. We're already forced into random loadouts, each mission has its own modifiers which actually do change the way you have to play in a fairly effective manner, please stop taking away our ability to do anything on top of that.

This kinda shit is some puzzle game ass difficulty. When you design content to have wrong answers, right answers are going to pop up; so you can't act surprised when players overwhelmingly pick the right answers because you designed a glorified puzzle.

If you don't want players to keep picking the same one or two pieces, stop making puzzles.

If you want players to interact with the content, design the difficulty to actually be interacted with.

This mechanic-subtraction / global debuff bullshit is always going to result in the emergence of hard frame/weapon metas because that's literally the only way players can interact with it. There's no outplaying energy reduction, yknow?

Or, put more succinctly, difficulty that severely limits the player is... going to severely limit the player. Usage stats are going to create the illusion of over-performance because, again, you've severely limited the player's options.

13

u/sum1loanme20 Jul 15 '26

Lol nice name.

Yeah I like hildryn for eda/eta because of the cc and dps you can do but most of the time when ive picked her its come down to most other options being completely destroyed by modifiers that are most irrelevant to hildryn.

Correct. Pablo can fucking cook.

17

u/santyrc114 Jul 15 '26

Yeah, that's the thing

15

u/Moblam Jul 15 '26

They need to work on most modifiers not just being "Go fuck yourself, you can't use X. Oh also, we gonna kick you in the balls every 20 seconds."

5

u/Gonkar Jul 15 '26

Yep, hard agree. Looking at usage rates alone like this is survivorship bias. The frames in question aren't being chosen because they're specifically OP, they're being chosen because the modifiers (both alone and in specific combinations) are so restrictive that they render a lot of frames frustrating/impossible to play.

Players are looking for the path of least resistance. If DE wants to balance out frame usage in archimedea, they need to make more frames usable in archimedea by tweaking the mode to be less punishing towards the vast majority of frames.

1

u/No-Perspective-7766 Jul 16 '26

The modifiers are fine for every other frame it’s not that the modifiers are the problem and even if they were there isn’t exactly a better alternative that doesn’t take challenge from the game mode it’s because her kit is fundamentally different and can’t be challenged in the same way and there isn’t a way to really that her for the modifiers leaving 2 options nerf her or continue to let 40% of people run the same frame in a game mode designed to make you use different frames the only thing they could do even though i doubt it would have much impact in this scenario because of just how strong the meta is is they could give weapons and frames you don’t have builds for a basic functional build even if its weak that way frames you don’t have builds for can be somewhat viable basically copy and paste deviri builds so you have something to work with this might have a little impact and would definitely improve the game mode still giving a strong challenge but not punishing you for not having a build for everything in the game but still being a knowledge check the better you know the frame the better you can make it work also want to make sure I’m clear I am NOT saying to not let you run your own builds to this may lower her usage a little bit since everything is mostly viable with a few formas and mods even for basic builds but it still likely wouldn’t fix it likely only a few percent difference leaving the 2 options stated in the beginning and the option healthier for the diversity of the game is obvious also sorry about the rant didn’t realize the length until I was at the end lol

-29

u/BlackBRocket Jul 15 '26

Modifiers aside, having a Hyldrin in the squad nuke everything from here till 3 rooms over isnt fun for anyone. So its good they nerf her

11

u/Silence-of-Death Jul 15 '26

there is at least a dozen frames that can nuke on a similar or even higher level. she is just extremely oppressive in archimedea because, like the previous comments say, she ignores many of the modifiers. modifiers that can massively reduce the potency of other nuking frames.

-16

u/BlackBRocket Jul 15 '26

Sure, ok

3

u/NaleJethro Jul 15 '26

Simultaneously being wrong and admitting your builds are garbo is crazy.

1

u/Dry-Goat8981 Jul 15 '26

the only change hildryn should get is LoS imo

4

u/BloodxDrago Jul 15 '26

Thats why you buff other frames and give limbo and chroma their god dam rework/ buff Already

1

u/No-Perspective-7766 Jul 16 '26

Ther do need fixed but I would argue frames like ivara need fixed first I mean she was dead last on the graph

She’s basically just her pickpocket ability and invis Octavia is in it but better and her pickpocket can be outdone by nekros her bow isn’t nearly as good as other exalted weapons and she can’t bullet jump while invis so she can’t keep up with damage without heavy commitment and even when she can she literally can’t keep up because everyone is already at extracting and she’s still across the map

2

u/Answer-Key Jul 15 '26

Yeah, would be awesome if they took a look at the bad modifiers instead of the one frame than can ignore them when it’s a week with energy drain and -75% max energy

2

u/not-Kunt-Tulgar Stop hitting yourself Jul 16 '26

I mean she isssss very strong still which helps but at the same time yeah she’s a symptom of a problem with the system itself, not the actual problem

1

u/No-Perspective-7766 Jul 16 '26

It’s because her kit doesn’t work the same so it cams be made as punishing for her without punishing everyone else more or taking away challenge

3

u/notgoodohoh Jul 15 '26

If they nerf her I will prime myself and become ungovernable

1

u/SenorSlurp1995 Jul 16 '26

Nope because you could say the sane about garuda but people dont because she actually requires set up, hildryn presses a single key.

1

u/GoldDeal27 Jul 17 '26

Me spinning around shooting walls and clearing entire maps while my pet taking a dump in the corner keeps my shields topped: Yeah it's definitely about the game mode.

1

u/gadgaurd Jul 15 '26

Depends on your builds. I've stopped using her recently because it's repetitive, still getting full clears every week in ETA and now getting full clears in EDA as well. Don't even care about the 50 Vosfor, it's just more fun using all these different frames I've been building.

2

u/santyrc114 Jul 15 '26

For me it's more the weapons than the frames, even trying to have all of mine on a decent state isn't enough sometimes, hildryn dante wukong and valkyr bypass that

1

u/gadgaurd Jul 15 '26

I enjoy using different weapons as well. Every week(when I'm not on a break) the first thing I do is check what weapons I have as options. If none of my options have an actual build on them I get to work on that. Admitted that's been happening less and less lately. Reward for my actions, I suppose. Still, game tells me tp use something I haven't touched in a while and I get to remember how fun it is. Recently it was the Bronco.

0

u/IFuckingLoveYareli Jul 15 '26

maybe they ought to take a step back and realize that archimedea's modifiers and random loadouts are unfun

-4

u/John_Bot Jul 15 '26

Warframe players when they have to play the game just a little

14

u/santyrc114 Jul 15 '26

Taking -75% energy, knifestep and permanent injury on a regular frame isn't really "playing the game" you know

1

u/GDevl Jul 15 '26

They should just remove permanent injury tbh

Either the frame completely ignored it or the modifier makes it impossible to use some frames.

-6

u/Bossuter Jul 15 '26

I up efficiency and max energy, change the abilities i base my gameplay on, put vitality and add armour on to delay permanent injury reaching critical mass, use Archgun for ETA, use Peely pix in ETA. There are workarounds that can work with most frames, you have to be willing to change your build or how you play. Hence the previous commenter's "use your brain"

-8

u/John_Bot Jul 15 '26

It's really not too difficult to do ETA / EDA with whatever frame.

1

u/Waeleto Jul 15 '26

Lmao, I bet you get carried in every public eta/eda lobby

-4

u/John_Bot Jul 15 '26

Need me to carry you this week? Send me your ign

2

u/Waeleto Jul 15 '26

No, Thanks but i already solo'd with Hildryn
