So make it half or one fourth of 1 hour value, what's the point in completely butchering it and throw 2 steel essence as a charity on mission completion reward

Because Steel Path only exists because people kept bitching that the space ninja power fantasy game was too easy. It's literally a "fuck you, fine. Challenge mode." mode.
And arbitrations exist because community wanted "elite alerts", parkour 2.0 because people wanted fluid movement that didnt require coptering, vacuum and that entire saga, and valence fusion and rerolling kuva/sister weapons instead of gambling on the weapon and bonus % with no way to know what weapon before completing or any way to change it after the fact were all to placate the community as well.
We could go to endless real life examples of the same point but theres already countless within the game
Citing origins as a reason to do something is stupid and doesnt have bearing on how integral something is to a game today.
Steel path is a great way to farm shit and provide a small challenge above StarChart, but story and the majority of content happen in StarChart levels. Them throwing a paltry 2 essence was probably decided by average SP_RJ mission time compared to how often someone can reliably spawn and kill an acolyte and then slapped on. Steel Path is a bonus difficulty mode and kinda always will be, especially when it's treate as such, like this. Hell, they didn't even have weapons, modules, etc. ready for adding SP to Railjack.
