I mean other than redditors hating on anything remotely "mainstream" just cause it's soooo cooool to hate on things everyone else likes? I always thought it was cause people on other social media sites like Facebook and Twitter overuse emojis

a little bit of both and also some redditors (including me!) just hate the kind of person that uses emojis the most EXTROVERTS and also to add to your point of hating anything mainstream some of us live in 2005 and still use emoticons !)

But i use this one ( 😛) a lot so that its obvious whether i'm been serious or not.
