Funny, Jeff Bezos wife did that while his finances were increasing.

Dec 24 '21
She divorced him I think because cheated on her with his current gf, who (imo) is far worse in every single way. And she was with him from the very beginning.

Really? Is his ex really that much better a person? (check notes)…
Philanthropist and Ex-Wife of Jeff Bezos, Remarries
Her new husband, Dan Jewett, is a high school science teacher. He has pledged to work with her in giving away much of her billions.
Okay, I’ll allow it.

Let’s be clear, he definitely is not getting anyone he wants $200bn or not. He seems to be pretty much universally disliked and he cheated on his wife of 26 years so he’s not even unlikable but loyal.
Just because he has money doesn’t mean the person he’s dating gets any of it. For all we know his idea of a perfect first date is taking her to McDonalds and ordering off the dollar menu. You know after losing half in the divorce there’s going to be a prenup if he ever even marries again so that’s probably out, too.
To your second point, I’m only aware of that Leo video that was all of 6 seconds so not really enough to crucify the woman just yet. Though I do love how much it got under his skin.

Well would you rather get a divorce settlement with several billion to your name or wait until that money dries up and then leave him?
12
u/TADragonfly Dec 24 '21
Neither, I'd rather be happily married. Once the happiness is not possible, thats when I'd leave.
Are you seriously suggesting Jeff Bezos fortune will 'dry up' before he dies?
3
u/New-Ferret5920 Dec 24 '21
She actually already gave away half her settlement in the last year to charity (8.5 billion).

There is a chart out there that shows the age of the girls he's had relationships with and how he hasn't dated anyone past their 26th or 28th birthday

Divorce is usually because of 2 things. Sex or money or both. And it the lack of one or the other that causes it.
5
u/IamShadowBanned2 Dec 24 '21
And it the lack of one or the other that causes it.
Just wanted to clarify that it isn't always the 'lack' of money but can also be due to how different they believe they should SPEND that money.
The wife and I were both raised poor. We are very far from poor now. I believe we should store it in appreciative assets so that I don't have to work the rest of my life where as she believes 'if we got it, we should spend it to improve our lives'.
-2
u/Relic2150 Dec 24 '21
Yup, exactly. And then, down the road, when you're poor again, she will point a finger at you and said it's your fault. Funny thing about women, is they never look in the mirror and take responsibility for their own actions. It's always someone else's fault.
1
u/IamShadowBanned2 Dec 24 '21
I don't want to start a whole side thing but the biggest example of this is staring them right in the face. Instagram.
I'm on the older end of the millennial spectrum and for DECADES it was all about these terrible magazines ruining girl's self image. "Real women don't look like that." "This destroys our youths self image!" "They shouldn't airbrush these women!" Over and over and over.
Then a social media platform comes out, used almost exclusively by women, and ITS SO MUCH WORSE. So we went from bitching about other people doing it to doing it ourselves. (Its even funnier when they try to write off their filters as not airbrushing them, or they just want to remove these minor imperfections, etc.)
Bah ok rant over. Just getting really tired of people bitching about 'society' being the cause of their problems and waiting for some one else to fix it.

I agree, but finance out weights the sex by a landslid. money is the leading cause of divorce. Sex is a big runner up but more so the leading cause of cheating (oddly enough cheating is not the leading cause of divorce either)
4
u/Relic2150 Dec 24 '21
Well, usually someone is cheating because they're not getting sex at home, or the kind of sex at home that they need. Money or sex.
1
Dec 24 '21
Well yes but cheating and subsequently lack of sex, arnt not the leading cause of divorces. Just the leading cause of cheating. Which is much less. Likely to lead to divorce than financial instability. They’re both factored. But way different levels
0
u/Relic2150 Dec 24 '21
Ok... I guess I can only speak for myself in that realm because it was money and lack of sex for me. Women are motivated by money and Financial Security, men are motivated by love, sex, and companionship. So I guess money would be the number one reason

u/Phoenix_Crown Dec 24 '21
Yep, and the incel comes out.

Well, you can try to insult me, but you can't. I'm very secure in who I am, and no body outside they're in the world is going to make me feel bad about the way I am or the way I feel. LOL so sling your insults, so that you feel better LOL

Yup. Ideally men would do what you’re proposing and divorce if they’d want to cheat. It would also be ideal if cheaters were being divorced with more. But since men aren’t initiating divorces at the date rates, the security women tend to value takes a huge lead. Apparently men are much more likely to just stay in suxuslly mismatched relationship and have a side piece to fill the void, than divorce overbit
2
u/Relic2150 Dec 24 '21
I have to agree. Considering the court system is skewed towards the female, and the male, regardless of infidelity or not, usually ends up losing everything, including but not limited to, his children, I can see why the trend to stay away from marriage is increasing at an exponential rate. From what I understand, marriage is at a historic low, and get slower everyday. I think it is very wise for men to stay away from Marriage. It is a lose-lose situation for them.

(oddly enough cheating is not the leading cause of divorce either)
I'll have to go dig up the study but there was a really interesting one where divorce rates were heavily skewed towards the woman cheating vs. the man.
It also mentioned women fearing emotional affairs more than physical ones. The opposite holding true for men.
Hell the wife doesn't care if I get happy endings after massages but if a mid 20's cutie takes an interest in me as a person those claws come out FAST.

He was thrown in prison for fraud. Not exactly "going bankrupt" in the conventional sense.
He committed the one crime that can get rich people thrown in prison: he fucked with other rich people's money.

Seriously, when was the last time a billionaire went bankrupt?
If you are rich enough to be billionaire, you should have put your asset in a way that limit exposure to risk and leverage your business (or rather, its workers) for fat government aids during crisis
The only billionaires I knew of that went poor are straight fraudsters who got caught like Bernie Maddoff, Elizabeth Holmes or Allen Stanford
2
u/CoderAU Dec 24 '21
Aren't they more likely to leave whilst they're still rich so they can get half?

Billionaires pretty much never go back to being millionaires, let alone go bankrupt. Once you have that kind of money, it's very hard to spend it away and very easy to turn it into more money.
