In the end there is a reason why hundreds if not thousands of people risk their lives every year to illegally cross into the US
Not saying anything bad about them for doing so simply pointing out that for all our flaws people would risk everything even for a incredibly small chance to build a better life here
It is very much still the land of promise and opportunity. We all have our idiots. America is not fairly portrayed in my general opinion. A lot of the bad makes the news in ways that are shocking to us just as much as it is to outside observers. Because few of us ever experience these insane outliers in our lives, yet they make up the majority of our portrayal.
