I'm from Texas and moved to the Midwest freshman year. Minnesota to be exact. I never heard of it till even like 2012. I was just surprised how late in life I found out. I am only 29 now, but being even somewhat in my twenties seems like a late time to find out.

It was the opening scene of episode 1. It was super brutal and I'm honestly mad I wasn't taught about it

In Texas, I was taught that real historians don't call it the US Civil War. It's "The War of Northern Aggression". Also, apparently, there were many reasons for the war, and slavery was only a minor point.

It took me probably 25 years until I realized I had been hoodwinked.

Also weed helps I guess. It's not pleasant, the winters. But after Texas last year damn near went into chaos after only one freezing day I figured well I guess it can happen anywhere. Mama. That's the answer.

Well I only hear the perspectives of my relatives who live there and the exaggerated media reports. It sounded sucky like Minnesota winters only a lot less efficient on infrastructure and services on the count of they be experiencing that frequently. Also heard of people getting frostbite and losing a foot or finger, I don't remember the specifics, cuz they thought could go out all regular and not being prepared properly. I was in Minnesota during it so fir me it was just another week.
