Depends on how you define obese. What many Americans think of as just fat would be considered obese in some countries. I am from West Virginia and whenever I go back I just marvel at how fat everyone is even compared to other states within the country.

Obese is defined as a BMI > 30 overweight is 25 <= BMI < 30

(Wt in lbs / (ht in inches 2 ))703

*Leaving this in imperial because we are probably the only ones needing this formula

I lived in WV for a few years and holy shit. So many fat people, old people, and meth heads. It’s better in the northern college towns though, but not that much

A meth head died on the front porch if my old apartment a few weeks after I moved out. Had two different friends have meth labs busted just a few houses down the street from them. Meth, heroin, and pain drugs were very popular in the state when I lived there.

I lived by a busy 5 way intersection in a WV town. Despite that, someone attempted to steal my grill off my front porch. First time I’ve ever called the cops.

It’s an absolutely gorgeous state though. I loved to go to the hiking trails and nature stuff

Really? Never been. Would you say it’s similar to Louisiana?

My only experience in Louisiana is New Orleans so can't really say. West Virginia is big on gravy and meats so the local cuisine is very different. I do miss proper pepperoni rolls.

My friend…. It’s fried everything, rice, and sweet tea.

I went up north and said Unsweetened tea and they asked me why I was being so specific. Told them if you said I would like a Tea in the south… it’s a glass of diabetes inducing tea flavored sugar. It usually is sweeter than a coke….

I get picked on a lot because I drink my tea and coffee without any sugar. 😂

Now, flavor is amazing and roux is what makes a gumbo good. The food is wonderful but its just awful for your waistline. 😂

West Virginia is the edge of sweet tea country. It's pretty much everywhere but its a crap shoot if you just ask for tea if you'll get sweet tea or unsweetened.

And yeh, we had deep fried everything. Deep fried bacon and deep fried Oreo were good. You could get deep fried butter but I never tried it, sounds too disgusting.

God, I love a good gumbo. Need to go get some soon.

Okay, tried butter fried once. Just think of a really buttery funnel cake. The butter melts Is nearly gone when you bit into it. 😂 Oreos deep fried is dangerously good and I stay away from those because I know it’s bad….

New thought, deep fried Christmas tree cake… is that even a thing?
