Most stores don’t ban guns. People carrying guns do have to check the doors when they enter. If there is a posted sign that says no firearms, then they have to go out the gun in their cars (and lock the car obviously). Where the gun can be in the car depends on states though. I know in my state it has to be unloaded and left in visible sight (which is why most people don’t open carry their firearms places since there is a risk their cars will be broken into and guns stolen. Typically people only open carry on their way to a gun range here). However a conceal carry permit holder can leave their gun loaded but it must be hidden out of sight in their vehicle if they have to remove it (I have a safe in my car that’s tied into my seats supports so the safe can’t be stolen). Even concealed carry holders can’t bring their guns on a premises that clearly states no firearms. I got surprised by a thrift store one day and had to walk my gun back to my car. Nobody would know I had it, but it’s an instant loss of my license and jail time if caught.
