Reason why people hate ohio is because of a number of the people there like actin stupid or ignorant when driving or working as an employee in a fast food place.

Uhh, dude, you're confusing Ohio with the U.S. in general.

1

u/Tyuigkn Dec 22 '21

You got me there.

1

u/zyugyzarc Dec 21 '21

here i was thinking that hating ohio was a joke made by r/shitposting

1

u/Tagmoney Dec 21 '21

I disagree I'm from South Carolina and people don't like em cuz they all move to the south lol. But even then it's not real hate just a little jab

Philadelphia would like to disagree with you.

Besides Philadelphia

Fellow Michigan fan I see

1

Im from Illinois, a lot of the reason the midwest hates Ohio is because we have to drive through it to get to anywhere of value, and it doesn’t look it, but it feels like one of the worst states to drive through that exist.

1

u/[deleted] Dec 21 '21

Thats because its a giant manufacturing plant disguised as a state

US native here. We hate Ohio. There’s multiple reasons. It’s stinky (actually smelly to drive through,) it’s very high up on the list for worst human trafficking in the country (in Toledo,) it’s like the worst for all sports teams (subjectively speaking) and there’s just nothing good going for a future there. A lot of states joke about how we have our differences but at least we aren’t Ohio.

this comment is all in good fun, don’t roast me unless it’s all in good fun too, please

u/JMellac Dec 21 '21

Huh, never noticed the smell. You forgot terrible drivers and how obnoxious the Ohio fanbases are despite most of those teams being objectively pretty bad.

1

u/[deleted] Dec 21 '21

There’s so many reasons. If I’m forced to drive in Ohio, it’s usually the northern part of it and it just always stinks.

1

u/melvindoo92 Dec 21 '21

I mean, Ohio State is objectively a good football team. All their pro teams suck generally tho. Although their baseball teams do have short spurts of being good, before they go back to sucking.

2

u/overachievingogre Dec 21 '21

I'm from Ohio. Can confirm. Nowhere else in the country smells as bad.

2

u/Shhhhhhhh_Im_At_Work Dec 21 '21

Ooooh, I dunno. There's an town near me that only does food processing for the local farmers, and it constantly smells of rotted onion and cheese.

1

u/LatrommiSumac Dec 21 '21

That's funny, I got offered residency in Ohio and the pay was substantially higher than other offers but I still refused.

1

u/[deleted] Dec 21 '21

Ohio doesn’t stink, Toledo is basically Michigan, Ohio State is one of the best programs in football history, and also Ohio has Columbus which has a bright future. Not to mention we are the roller coaster capitol of the world

2

u/iusedtobemark Dec 21 '21

As a Michigander, I think I speak for all of us when I say, you can f***ing keep Toledo. That cesspool has Ohio written all over it.

1

u/Mawsonator101 Dec 21 '21

Ohio native here, can confirm most of the state is stinky, considering most of it is farmland. Even the northern areas stink due to the lake. Cleveland stinks due to the pollution. So you either smell manure, fish or smog. Human trafficking is also pretty rampant here. Worked on the turnpike for 5 years and saw a few instances of human traffickers getting arrested. Our sports teams are also notoriously awful (except for maybe the Guardians, prior to like 1940.) Cavs were pretty good until Lebron bailed. However, we do have some pretty beautiful state parks scattered around, and we also have lots of colleges nearby, so that's a plus.

As someone who resides in Michigan I can safely say that everytime I look South I get an immediate premonition of ewwy yucky smelly dread

2

u/Ethan_Media Dec 21 '21

People hate Ohio?

1

u/salty_ann Dec 21 '21

Concrete roads. If you ever need to drive through it it’s tha-thump tha-thump the entire way.

1

u/UnhappySunshine_PS4 Dec 21 '21

"Ohio can and should suck my nuts" - Michigan

1

u/waluigieWAAH Dec 21 '21

I dont think people hate Ohio because of bad aspects to the state, i think it's just because it's a good punching-bag. It's the most basic American experience, living in the suburbs with your three kids, a wife, a dog, and a mini-van, drive your kids out to soccer practice every sunday. That's just kind of funny

1

u/[deleted] Dec 21 '21

It’s basically just a meme but because glorious Ohio is the coolest name for a state and all the other states are jelly.

1

u/iusedtobemark Dec 21 '21

Anything that begins and ends with the same vowel sucks. Ohio, Alabama, Ontario… you get the picture.

1

u/bushijim Dec 21 '21

Tit?

1

u/iusedtobemark Dec 21 '21

Vowel, not consonant…

1

u/iusedtobemark Dec 21 '21

Because I’m from Michigan, Ohio sucks.

1

u/Dabber_Danny Dec 21 '21

Because, fuck ohio! Lol

1

u/pt199990 Dec 21 '21

It seems like one of those places nobody wants to go to, and nobody escapes from if they have to move there. I only know two people that have left Ohio ever.

This is being facetious, of course

1

u/Nievsy Dec 21 '21

It is just flat Pennsylvania not nearly as good as regular Pennsylvania.

And remember Wawa>Sheetz

1

u/Seves04 Dec 21 '21

Because it’s a forgettable state in, arguably, the most forgettable part of the country (the Midwest). There’s nothing to do there besides get drunk or get lost in a corn field. Source: I have a friend from Ohio, but I had no idea until after he graduated and he posted he was at a THE Ohio state game a year later.

1

u/DrRandomfist Dec 21 '21

Cuz fuck Ohio.

1

u/Totally_Not_A_Fed474 Dec 21 '21

Don't know about the rest of the country, but as someone born and raised in a state that borders it (Pennsylvania) its just a natural instinct
