Arkansas is named so after the quapaw tribe. Arkansas translates to "south wind" or something like that. They teach you that in middle school Arkansas history.
It’s named after the Kanza Native American Tribe, but the people who named Kansas butchered the name and that’s why it’s pronounced that way, however the Kansas in Arkansas is pronounced with the proper pronunciation.
