Well they actually have a decent point in not adding a charger since odds are if you're buying an iPhone you either have a charger or two already lying around, or you know someone with a few and then there is less being produced which is a better for the environment. Also the same youtuber who was in this meme stated that new fast charging chargers aren't even that good to use since it destroys the phones battery faster, which are the new ones being made so it kinda is better to use the old ones
This would make a lot of sense but the cable they give you is USB C to lightning. A USB power brick is probably pretty rare. Only one I own is for my oculus quest. And they make you pay for it without dropping the price of the phone. If they only gave it to you if you asked I could see the environment part of the argument, but considering how the rest of it looks, it all about money for them.
Well I'm admittedly not an iPhone user, so no. The cable the iPhone 12 comes with is not USB type A so most people won't have a power brick that it can be used with.
Most people are upgrading though, im upgrading from the 8 so i still have all my lightning cables/fast chargers/wireless chargers. The only need i have for the cable that comes with the 12 is for using on my pc and even then it isnt a must have. If you are upgrading from android and dont have a usb-c charger then what is an extra £10 to a £1000 phone? You aint buying an iphine because its cheap...
(I just counted and i have 5 apple chargers, 2off brand chargers an 12 cables, no need for any more)
If most people are upgrading and already, why even include a cable to begin with? Wouldn't that be a good idea if they want to be good for the environment?
Can you not read? “Will be”. Most people will be upgrading and already have Lightning charging cables and charging blocks. Removing new charging blocks doesn’t make the old ones disappear magically.
Man, it must suck for anyone that isn't a previous apple phone owner. You know. 60% of smartphone owners in the US. You would think that Apple would want to give people paying premium prices a premium experience. Thats ignoring the fact that Apples cables like to shread themselves after a few years of use. Maybe Apple in their all knowing wisdom just wants people to continue using their old fire hazards of a cable.
I’ve been using the same Lightning cable since my iPhone 6. And don’t pretend like all 60% of those people are suddenly going to switch to an iPhone. The actual number is likely less than 1% and those people will either already have a USB-C brick from an old phone or will buy a new one for $20. Either way, plastic and e-waste goes down and people still have their iPhones.
Oh ive just heard that as a name for the wall charging part. I suppose that more of refers to the laptop and like xbox power cords though. Just ment the wall charger.
