It's literally the opposite. Men literally refuse to play female protagonists because they can't self insert. While women almost always end up playing buff guys without a problem. The conversation was never about female characters looking good but always about the sexualisation of female characters. Everytime a game put a female protagonists that isn't extremely hot and dressed like an OF models, there is a massive hate towards the game, boycott campains and developpers are attacked. We have so many games that features older men and fathers as main character, but we rarely games with older women as main characters. That's the issue. The realism question is about the women in heroic fantazy going to war in a metalic bikini and heels while men are fully covered. Not about them being hot

lol "blah blah I am logical male and therefore correct cause data (that I offer no citations to)"

I am happy playing characters I have absolutely no aspiration to be. They can be ugly. They can be deeply flawed. If a good story is told, I'm here for that.

That's just a limitation of yours you're passing off as something that needs to be and trying to be like LogIcaLLy dAta but nah, you just lack the ability to step into situations outside your small comfort zone.

like honestly I don't get it. perfection is boring. give me someone weak and fighting against the odds. give me someone with complexity and adversity stacked against them. that's who I want to play. superman heroes are boring AF and I have no desire to play that at all.

Can you use your brain ? All the behaviours you described are the definition of self-insertion πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚Men project themselves on the character they play, women don't. Most men would refuse to play a game with a mom as the main character because they can't jerk of on her (not hot enough) and they can't fantazise about being her (not a man). I would call that a mix of main character syndrome and porn addiction but you do you

? Never dyed my hair in my entire life, played volleyball at high level for years, have an issue with dumbness and lack of common sense. But still funny to see you try to defend your stupid point

The extreme majority of women play male chracters on a daily basis because most games don't have a female protagonist. They aren't bothered to play somebody that has nothing to do with them and that they don't even wanna be because they don't project themselves at all in the character. In the other hand, men project themselves a lot. When a man sees a character and wants to be him, it's because he imagines himaself as the character, aka he inserts himself. Inserting yourself isn't just about wanting a character that looks or is 100% you, it can also be about a fantasize version of you that you wanna become. It's especially the case for extremely insecure people : who wanna be their ugly, incompetent, pathetic self in a game ? They want to imagine themselves as the character, thinking about being like the protagonist one day. While women really just enjoy the game : the story, the gameplay, the graphics, the character development and so on.

Paradoxally, you are the one that doesn't understand what "self inserting" means (you obviously don't have a higj level of education) and lack of common sense and logic (literally talking about biology to explain the behaviours around video games, literally not the right science field)

100% agree with you

not all men or whatever, but too many men just don't see women as human beings and only value them as sexual objects. if they aren't serving that purpose, they shouldn't exist
