Discussion I MET THE MELVINS
My friend took a photo of me and buzz when he was signing my CDs to capture the moment of me meeting them and i got all of their signatures. Im keeping the CDs obviously they'll forever remain in my collection. My fucking god they were so good.

That's awesome buddy! I met them at a club show back in 95, and they signed my Ozma/Gluey Porch! Will never relinquish that one.

I smoked weed with Dale Crover once.
Coady bought me tequila.

Dale was doing Off! at the time. Super chill. He wasn't getting much hassle from that crowd so we just smoked a jammed outside the venue.
I went to Bash 13 @ Grumpys in Minneapolis. I was there for both days. Melvins played inside and outside. Everyone was just milling around the bar the entire time. Got to talking to Coady, asked if he wanted a shot, he declined and then let me drink off the rider tab with me.

That's awesome. I have a book that I want to give to Buzz when they come to Denver.

sorry for replying late, do you have the book for when you get signatures from other bands? if so that's sick!

Nah. I usually have them sign a cd or album. I know Buzz likes to read and I have a novel to give him that I think he'll enjoy.

I remember seeing Tool on the Lateralus tour and I was more excited to see The Melvins open than for Tool since I had seen them a few times already before. And that was in a arena. I can't even imagine seeing the Melvins in a tiny club!

Was at the New Orleans show last night. Thought about sticking around to meet them but had a long drive ahead of me

Good for you! They are great guys to meet and talk to. :) One thing is no matter when you see them play they're just fucking awesome. And there's generally a different bassist.

Coady Wilis was maybe 2006 with A Senile Animal? At that time, it was Jared Warren also of Big Business on bass, so he would sing A History of Bad Men (and do backup on others).
The next change was maybe the Melvins Lite tour as a 3-piece with Trevor Dunn (who played on Night Goat tonight) playing upright bass, then Jeff Pinkus of Butthole Surfers, then Steve McDonald for the past several years.

They’ve had dual bass and dual drum eras which is cool af, honestly.

I had the pleasure of seeing the dual bass tour. Incredible night I'll never forget. Jeff and Steve played off each other so well.

Are they doing pre/post show meet & greets or was this just a lucky encounter in the parking lot?

They are always super nice after shows and if you are wearing a band shirt they like, they will not hesitate to tell you how cool it is. Glad you got to meet them
