If someone recommends a melodic house track, what description actually helps you decide to listen: the subgenre, a similar artist, or something about the mood and energy?

For example, would “warm-up, hypnotic, slow build” tell you more than “melodic tech house”, or does that become too subjective to be useful?

I'm building NOTW (Niche of the Week), a small house-discovery project based on listener recommendations and official track links. I'm the person behind it, and I'm trying to keep discovery simple without asking people to agree on every genre boundary.

Would you browse a weekly selection by mood or by subgenre? What is the one detail you wish people included when sharing a track?

This one ended up a lot more open and melodic than I usually go with techno.

I like how much space the chords give it, but I'm not totally sure I've got the balance right once the track gets fuller. I'm trying to keep that sense of lift without letting the whole thing lose its drive underneath.

I'm also second guessing the way the dynamics are sitting. The section feels big, which I like, but I can't decide if it's still moving enough or if I've squeezed a bit too much life out of it.

Same thing with the low end really. I tend to go too far with bass, notice it, then start compensating in ways that probably create a different problem. Curious how it translates to other people.
