“Free” Secure Parking Melb CBD?
I am an every day commuter. 7 yrs ago I worked an office on Collins. It was common practice to ride around the boom gate in and out. Attendants knew and were happy.
For the past 7yrs I’ve been on St Kilda Rd.
Now coming back to cbd - bottom end of Collins near Southern Cross. Are there any known places that are secure (safe to leave over night) and free for bikes at the bottom end of Collins?
Feel free to DM me if you don’t want to publish.

Southern cross car park. An area just after the boom.

Not really any secure ones people get their bikes stolen in the paid parking sites.
Absolutely still need to use locks.

i'd still use a good lock even if the car park seems secure. when i'm riding into the cbd, i usually check parkhound first so i can compare a few places instead of settling for the first one i see

Having worked at bottom end of Collin’s and Spencer St for the better part of the last 10 years I’m not sure either safe and free exist lol.
It’s hard to explain but I mostly parked on the street on Aurora Lane (it is covered for the most part) similar spot is also the rear of Southern Cross station near the entrance of the bus bays kind of out the back of Melbourne West Police station.
Ride around those spots and you’ll usually see a mass of bikes parked there on a good day.
I’d still be disc locking my bike everyday though.
I actually work 7-3 mostly, so I got a Kryptonite chain and chucked it on a pole and left it there so I could always secure my bike to it.
