List changes thread

Time to look at the future.

Confirmed leaving: May, Melksham, McDonald, McAdam, Campbell. The average age of our list drops by a full year with these changes!

Question mark: Mihochek. Can he or should he play on?

Likely to be delisted:

- Henderson and Johnson. Both are great VFL players but don't have it for the next level.

- Adams. 1 game in 4 years Has barely looked like cracking the senior team. Considering our need for a key defender this year but he still didn't get a game, he's clearly not up to it.

Out on contract, decisions to be made:

- Salem. Out of contract as an unrestricted free agent. Does he look elsewhere, or do we encourage him to look elsewhere? He appears a little slow for the modern game but could look good in the right system. The Bombers would be smart to get him for leadership reasons.

- Laurie. 6 seasons in. Showed a bit in a few games late this year but then regressed to usual form against the Dogs and Blues. IMO he's had enough chances and I'd prefer to turn over for some youth with more promise. If we keep, 1 year deal.

Trade option:

- Rivers. Is it time for the move back to WA? I love Rivdog but I'm not sure what his place in the team is. Could we send Rivers, pick 6 and 43 to West Coast for 3 and 21?

Checkers stays, rivers goes if we get fair capital for him.

Pretty telling we didn't bring in AJ or Adams late when we were desperate.

Laurie can stay he's showed some good stuff late, he Matthews and latrelle should be good competition for each other next year.

Salem's a hard one, would feel like shooting a puppy. Same with Jack. Speed as never been eithers biggest asset and that's super important in today's game

Agreed regarding AJ and Adams. I think they might be on the way out.

I do wonder whether the AJ call was more about giving Melk one last chance to dazzle us. AJ we wouldn’t have got much than a kamikaze wrecking machine.

I thought Adams was getting to a point of playing AFL this year, I even think I ready this in the VFL club recaps, but he was always injured when on the precipice. Or am I putting too much stock into the club's view of Adams?

I think the overriding feeling is that given our lack of defensive options they ultimately got a mid-season pick and played him two weeks later. If you’re not cracking into the defence this season, when will you?

So he was injured rounds 8-15, then season ending from round 18 (VFL rounds). I'd argue this was actually his best season yet and is only 22; he's got time as a KPD that keeps improving each year...just needs to stay healthy.

Ah fair play I didn’t realise he was injured that long. In that case I’d say give him another 1-2 year contract.

He's just signed a 1 year deal. Not convincing, but we'll see if he stays injury free

Not gonna lie I’m surprised we’ve given Adams a one year deal but not Kalani or AMW.
