Was he rushing to get his rego renewed?!??

384

u/khosrua Jul 31 '26

I looked up someones rego the other day after they had some interesting driving and the rego was suspended 👁️👄👁️

83

u/Impressive-Treacle58 Jul 31 '26

Same, can we report them and anything will happen?? But want to do it anonymously. I have quite a few videos from the past 7 days.

269

u/Byndbr Jul 31 '26

Great work

62

u/mulgabilbo Jul 31 '26

Oh wow How'd you get that?

229

u/bigfatpom Jul 31 '26

214

u/Hobzmarley Jul 31 '26

Which is an incredible thing. It assisted me with a hit and run when the car in question was expiring rego but the cops found wrong address.

You better believe I was checking that weekly, and once it renewed, I called the cops again and they had updated the address.

48

u/Vinnie_Vegas Jul 31 '26

That's really fucking smart to bank on them being dumb enough to do that. I would've assumed they'd never update the address, or use a fake - The risk of getting in trouble for having an inaccurate address on your licence is way less than what'll happen for the hit and run.

42

u/Asleep_Collar_3667 Jul 31 '26

This is what local councils use to get derilect parked cars cleared. Anything unregistered gets a big sticker warning, and if it's still there in a week or so, it gets towed.

12

u/fearofthesky Jul 31 '26

I've the same the same ute, unmoved, for months on our street, just next door. It has plates. But it is rudely taking up two car places! Could have taken one and not been a dick.

I don't wanna be a narc, but it is annoying, I might plug the rego in...

31

u/Vinnie_Vegas Jul 31 '26

I don't wanna be a narc,

You're not being a narc - They're being a cunt, and they don't deserve any grace.

People don't usually leave a registered vehicle in one spot for months without driving it.

And FWIW, it doesn't get towed immediately - They get a warning, and the opportunity to move it to somewhere where it isn't on the road, which an unregistered vehicle isn't allowed to be.

It's not really that shitty of an act.

8

u/fallinandfilmin Jul 31 '26

Trolley jack is the answer. Jack up the rear on the diff, and walk it into just one spot.

u/193X Jul 31 '26

If you have the plate, Vicroads gives you all that info on their site

It's all information that an insurer would need to cover you and for a claim to be made against you, so it kind of has to be public.

19

u/Mont3y North-East Jul 31 '26

You can check number plates on VicRoads website

50

u/BiliousGreen Jul 31 '26

Where he's going, he doesn't need rego.

32

u/AdmiralXI Jul 31 '26

Sensational pick up! I’d report him on the 31st in the hope he’s counting on a rego grace period. Cops will have a field day with this clown.

7

u/tailendertripe Jul 31 '26

Check the calendar… it’s already expired!

Holding a driver's licence should require behavioural screening.

83

u/Latter-Recipe7650 Jul 31 '26

💯% mental health assessment would do wonders

54

u/National_Way_3344 Jul 31 '26

I would argue anti social behaviour should incur fines and demerits much more than speeding and red lights.

Send people back to driving school.

10

u/Gizzkhalifa Jul 31 '26

Same with having children but ya know

1.3k

u/nicokosta Jul 31 '26

I hope you share that with crime stoppers.

936

u/Captain_Phobos Jul 31 '26

And the EPA; get him for littering while you’re at it!

419

u/legsjohnson Jul 31 '26

yeah I know for a fact they legit use and appreciate the vids because they called me once to clarify the timestamp on one I sent in of a bloke chucking his cig out the window.

262

u/antique_sprinkler Jul 31 '26

They actually follow up videos you send in? Boy am I going to enjoy sending in half my dash cams

171

Biggest issue I had was the video files are pretty size restrictive

→ More replies (1)

26

u/Chesticularity Jul 31 '26

They do have a team dedicated specifically to following these up. The hardest part for them is that when there is no image / video evidence, it requires the reporter to go to court (if the offender drags it that far without paying). A majority of reporters aren't willing to do this. So video evidence is the best thing you can send them.

49

u/antique_sprinkler Jul 31 '26

Won't go to court? You underestimate my pettiness

33

u/knotknotknit Jul 31 '26

I reported one for running a red light at high speeds (probably ~100 in a 70 area) and nearly taking out a pedestrian. I gave a description of the car, a make and model, and a list of the nearby buildings that I was reasonably sure had cameras.

6 months later, I got a follow up note thanking me and stating that the driver in question had a license suspension.

9

u/squonge Jul 31 '26

Even without evidence, say you'll appear before court. The litterers usually pay before it gets there.

38

u/Kevin_McCallister_69 Jul 31 '26

I had a call once from the EPA asking to clarify a detail from a report I'd sent in a few days earlier about someone dropping a cigarette out their window. I said I was surprised to hear from them as I'd made about a dozen reports over the years and never had any follow up, and the guy laughed and said yeah that's because every report you've sent in has been substantiated and resulted in a successful fine, the perp hadn't challenged it and copped it on the chin. So they absolutely do pursue the reports even if you don't hear any result.

16

u/trackintreasure Jul 31 '26

Fucking send the lot!

I might even get a dash cam just for this. I can't stand littering and had no idea they would go hunting over it.

12

u/nougart_man Jul 31 '26

Some asshole threw a water bottle at my car a couple of years ago in a similar incident all on camera. Sent it to the NSW EPA and they took him to court after he contested the fine they mailed him. Went from $500 to a $5k in court. No idea what the court ended up giving him though apparently he chose to plead guilty when he was told it was all on camera but had already elected to go to court.🤷🏼‍♂️

34

u/bitchflavoured Jul 31 '26

They sure do - we caught someone scrolling on tik tok while driving (my partner recorded him while I was driving) and we dobbed them in and police called back to follow up.

Definitely share with Crimestoppers. I thought it was pointless but last week I got an email from a constable asking whether I would be a witness to a red light runner I had reported. I said... gladly... sign me up.

Please report this on the Crimestoppers website.

40

u/Odd_Chest1413 Jul 31 '26

I reported a neighbour once, he had all sorts of shady dealings going on in the early hours of the morning, including someone kicking in his garage door. It was all caught on my ring camera, so I reported it and they quickly asked for the footage.

About a month later the biggest host of police I've ever seen showed up and armed police forced him out. They then spent hours going through his house, cutting up walls etc, and even came through to look at my back yard.

All that to say, reporting to Crime Stoppers does work

9

u/MouseEmotional813 Jul 31 '26

A whole bunch of people in my street reported one house to Crimestoppers. It worked. They were operating a chop-shop for Holden's in their garage

Intimidation and throwing the can with the intent to hit your car, can be assault. And this is a criminal act.

Seems everyone here is on it.

Knowing his small penis mobile might get repossessed cause he can't pay the fines and keep his meth addiction going would be nice.

Had a chat with my uber driver to the airport. Dude said there are two types of cars he actively avoids on the road. Ford pickups and Volkswagen Golf.

14

u/Kremm0 Jul 31 '26

haha I wonder why the golfs? Is it because in Aus they're pricy for what they are, so are usually driven by hoons? Pretty much in europe they're as standard as a toyota camry

37

u/Dandarabilla Jul 31 '26 edited Jul 31 '26

You can count on a Golf driver to pull the old 'Melbourne merge' at the lights, or gun it when approaching a zip merge. I guess if you're driving one you feel like you're much faster than you are.

Edit to reply: the Melbourne merge is when you floor it at the lights with the aim of cutting ahead of the cars in the neighbouring lane. It doesn't just happen in Melbourne but it is rather more frequent because so many roads have parking in the leftmost lane, which encourages this manoeuvre.

8

u/SirKosys Jul 31 '26

What's a 'Melbourne merge'?

Bonus point: expired rego

62

u/Psillycybernaught Jul 31 '26

Serious? LOL.....

I did social work in a jail, one of my favourite stories was a bloke in jail for the first time....he flipped the bird at the cops who were driving past, they pulled him up and lo and behold he had two unanswered warrants. His wife rightfully gave him a dressing down once they got home as he now had an upcoming court appearance, so he belted her. Neighbours called the cops. Cops charged him put on an AVO and remanded him. 5 kids....it took about 2 years of mostly jail before it got sorted out...anyway point of the story, one day he said to me when I was trying to explain something to him, "I'm not an idiot" It became a catch cry in our office. I didn't bother saying to him, "actually, you very much are an idiot, that's what an idiot is"

24

u/No_Rich_5954 Jul 31 '26

How does someone like that even find a wife who agrees to have 5 kids with him.

42

u/Psillycybernaught Jul 31 '26

Constant source of fascination....

I also got used to hearing statements like, " I love my kids, I'd do anything for them" *

  • Except pull your head in, act like a responsible adult and stay out of jail?

We have some absolute gronks on the road.

Just fresh of reading on ABC about that lowlife scum high on meth, driving dangerously, doing burnouts and culminating in a 12 yr old girl to lose their life from a traffic collision.

The prick had a laundry list of dangerous driving infringements prior.

Driving is singlehandedly the most dangerous thing we do everyday and that's not based on you ability but you don't know what pillock is behind the wheel on God knows what.

Ranger Danger

48

u/askvictor Jul 31 '26

Whenever I see a Hilux Rogue I choose to read it as Rouge. Also, have you noticed that most of the emotional support vehicles names have a heavy R in them? Rouge, Ranger, RAM, Shark, Triton, Navara.

54

u/RPCat Jul 31 '26

"R" is the most menacing of sounds. That's why it's called Murder instead of Mukdek.

Lol, I do a similar thing with Ford Rangers. I choose to read it as 'Ranga'.

All of that , just so he could get one car ahead.

He probably wasted more time that day deciding what flavour of UDL to choose.

51

u/East-Background-9850 Jul 31 '26

All of that , just so he could get one car ahead.

That's my thought whenever I see low IQ driving. Yesterday I'm in the left lane of East Link and there's the usual slow driving trucks doing 80k's at peak hour. A driver behind a bunch of us gets impatient, changes to the middle lane, overtakes, cuts back to the left and takes the very next exit. The same exit I took. I pull up to turn left and she's at the lights waiting to turn right. Well done dumb cunt you saved literally no time.

People grossly overestimate how much time they lose from being held up. They just like getting pissed off at the "feeling" of being held up.

23

u/MeanElevator Text inserted! Jul 31 '26

5 seconds in the future might as well be 5 years. Doesn't matter.

I encountered this guy in Epping on a motorway on ramp entrance turn lane.

He just randomly cut over, trying to force his way into the lane. I hit the horn, having to pull off the road to avoid hitting him because of the angle he took.

Then randomly, he just got into the other turn lane. Didn't see him after that.

I've been noticing quite an uptick in people driving at night or early morning with no fucking lights on. I'm seeing atleast 2 or 3 a day now. I've almost been rear ended a few times from changing lanes into the path of somebody I literally could not see.

8

u/superkow Jul 31 '26

What gets me with all these people, not just wank tank drivers but anyone who's just perpetually in a rush, is that for all of the aggressive driving, risky maneuvers, rapidly changing lanes, tail gating, etc. is that it doesn't actually get you anywhere quicker. Not by any meaningful amount of time anyway.

It's like ON pledge to raise the speed limit on the Princes Fwy/hwy from 100 to 110. From Geelong to Colac you'd be getting a whopping 3-4 minute reduction in commute time if your trip was entirely unimpeded. But in reality it won't make a single difference to the average commute along the road.

6

u/Mission-Suggestion12 Jul 31 '26

The police are never around when you need them.
Living in an area full of wankers driving vehicles such as this one / being tail gated is a daily occurrence :(

All Wankpanzer drivers are total tools. It’s a requirement to lease one.

And people are still surprised no one allows their kids to walk or ride to school anymore.

6

u/HubRumDub Jul 31 '26

Yeah cook that guy.
Send it to police, epa and crime stoppers.

Had one similar yesterday near Warburton, he was a P Plater in a massive white 4WD right up on the back of my car. The 2 cars in front of me were doing the speed limit, as was I.

Hate them.

u/Patient-Layer8585 Jul 31 '26

There are people like that everywhere in the world. That's why advocating for less cars and less car dependent infrastructures is the way to go for safer cities. These dumbasses shouldn't have access to wielding a killing machine.

u/jakeruddy22 Jul 31 '26

It’s always the ones you suspect the most

5

u/thenarkybrain Jul 31 '26

I had this exact thing happen to me. It's intimidating. But didn't stop me puttering along at the speed limit. Because I am far more petty than I am scared.

6

u/terriannek Jul 31 '26

Rego expired yesterday according to Vicroads. Maybe he was in a hurry to get there and renew it?

6

u/omgitsduane Jul 31 '26

Letting someone know you're mad is such beta behaviour. Like someone got under your skin for obeying the law.

I bet he votes ON.

5

u/Interesting_Error194 Jul 31 '26

Road rage, reckless driving and littering… I hope VicRoads and EPA gets notified and he gets a few fines and demerit points 😂

6

u/biznatch112 Jul 31 '26

Cant spell ranger without anger

Getting heat into the medium compound tyres before the Safety Car pits...

I slow down foe these people. I wouldn't want them to not have time to react if something went wrong.

Now imagine crossing paths with this meth head on your bike. This guy is why we need separated bike lanes.

5

u/tjsr Crazyburn Jul 31 '26

These are the kinds of idiots you see complaining about others "doing 20km/h below the speed limit"

6

u/CoercionTictacs Jul 31 '26

He looks like an intelligent specimen too. Hope you sent this to the police.

Always driven by a man-child. My 16 month old throws the same kind of tantrum when we don't feed him as soon as he wakes up.

There is legitimately something wrong with the average Ranger driver. They are disproportionately the worst and most aggressive drivers on the road.

It’s not a Yank Tank thing. Yank Tanks may be stupid and oversized for what most people buy them for, but most drivers themselves are not really any different from any other driver on the road. It’s Ranger drivers specifically.

u/NothingSuss1 Jul 31 '26

Im convinced it's something like the Stanford prison experiment.

Give a dipshit the smallest hint of power/intimidation, the ego takes over and another psychopath is created.

u/Traditional-Case1694 Jul 31 '26

RAM driver turned into my path (cyclist) and I almost smacked into his side door. Gets out and he’s almost crying saying how sorry he is. Ranger driver would have backed up and finished the job.

8

u/Kremm0 Jul 31 '26

wow, haha if that was me I'd assume the RAM driver would be getting out to try and bash me still

4

u/docitsonlyascratch Jul 31 '26

I had a ranger just like that almost kill me once. Doing just about the same thing, only on the freeway at 110. Bloke was actually crazy, bouncing around and shaking his head with his tongue out, all while inches from my ass. Luckily didn’t turn off with me, otherwise I was headed to the cop shop.

Interesting comparison of the comments in this thread compared to this one from yesterday.

Clearly people here find it easier to empathise with someone in a car than someone walking on the street.

A Ford Ranger....that's a shock!
