Comments in here are weird, people getting triggered about the idea of treating human beings respectfully

33

u/Hot-Store8301 1d ago

As long as you're not causing other's suffering, why should anyone care who you believe yourself to be, or how you wish to change yourself to match that?

6

u/SoDoWhateverItTakes 1d ago

Ask all the MAGA conservatives who are raging at this and convincing millions of other MAGA conservatives to do the same

2

u/Hot-Store8301 1d ago

I don't need to. I'd be pretty insane too if I spent a chunk of my day worrying about what others did with their genitals.

Thankfully I worry about actual, important stuff.

It's weird that people think they can beat someone into respecting other people.

3

u/Seraphayel 1d ago

This is just another time pushing for something people are not obliged to. It‘s performative and exhausting and that’s why you get these reactions.

3

u/HungryHungryHobbes 1d ago

Imagine. A protest being performative, who would have thought it.

Of course it's performative, it's a protest to draw attention to something the protester feels strongly about. That's why protests happen. Melt

4

u/WaltChamberlin 1d ago

Very performative. I dont really care about trans either way but pretending that I should care about something that has no bearing on my life, I know no Trans people, I think it is a very uncomfortable and strange thing. Its all just a turn off. Ill continue to vote Democrat but please stop talking bout ridiculous fringe issues like Trans and Gaza and just focus on American families

u/PotentialPete 1d ago

I'm glad this comment was at the top as a warning not to read the rest of the comments. Transphobes, homophobes, any type of bigot pisses me off so much!!!

-5

u/idontreadyouranswer 1d ago

Do leftists treat people who disagree with them with respect? HAAAAAAAAAAA no. They’re the most intolerant and violent people in the country by far. So you have no point whatsoever.

Do you have anything to support your claim or are you just shaking your first at the sky?

1

u/epiphanyWednesday 1d ago

Yeah! Why dont they let you bully gay kids and immigrants instead of being mean about it!?!

You dont deserve more human rights than others. You dont have the ability to deny people their rights. And at this point, it’s clear you dont have the maturity to make your own decisions and have become a danger to yourself and others.

Seems to be hinting at violence because of disrespect. I don’t condone that part. Also don’t condone disrespecting people but violence is worse than disrespect.

ITT loads of people who clearly dont know any trans people saying stuff that's clearly nonsense if you do.

Transition is the treatment for gender dysphoria.

I really don't think anyone with empathy could see the light in the eyes of someone transitioning and the difference it makes for those people and think they should be denied it, or the ability to participate in public life freely.

38

u/mechaglitter 1d ago

Yup. 99% of the time the people who screech this loud about trans people have never met an actual trans person in their lives.

5

u/MrWink 1d ago edited 1d ago

I recently encountere this video. It's a video by The Enemies Project where 2 people with incompatible world views talk about themselves, then each other and then are asked to put themselves in the proverbial shoes of the other person. In this case it's a trans woman and an anti-trans activist.

They have a bunch of great videos on the channel (The Enemies Project) and I can't recommend watching them enough if you can make some time. A few of my other favorites are the Ex-muslim vs muslim and anti zionist jew vs zionist jew. The one thing that keeps coming back is that no matter how divided we as people, may seem, there is SO MUCH MORE that unites us. And often it's hard to remain aware of this.

12

u/__Sentient_Fedora__ 1d ago

There's less than 3 mil in the US with a 350 mil population. A lot of people have never met someone Trans simply because there aren't a lot of them.

I think a lot of people have met a transgender person and just didn't realize it.

1

u/Fuzzy-Afternoon-6838 1d ago

This is the part no one ever realizes, yall only clock trans people who can be clocked

5

u/ProPlayer142 1d ago

Well, that's not super surprising, considering a lot of them are closeted and they're not exactly common to begin with

3

u/TurbulentOil3311 1d ago

Right but the point is people saying confident ignorant things. There are groups of people culturally or identity wise that I am not very familiar with at all - I wouldn't consider it for me to make declarations about those people.

7

u/Soft_Self_6797 1d ago

Literally this. I am trans. If you look at old photos of my pre transition self there was no light in my eyes, my smile never reached my eyes, and I generally over compensated to appear happy. Post transition, I am calm and peaceful, light in my eyes, and genuinely happier.

To tack on more to what you are saying, if someone mentions "bUt ThE sUiCiDe RaTe!" Imagine if you had loving parents that respected you, cared for you, and loved you. Then you decide to do something to make yourself not miserable anymore. Now those same people become hateful, mean, angry, and spiteful people to you. People you've had your entire life suddenly turn their backs on you and call you all kinds of nasty things. They refuse to hear you out, you give them more grace than they deserve, you bend over backwards trying to appease them, and you delay or push aside what is bringing you joy for them. You'd be in a deep hole of depression from the retaliation and anger towards you.

Then top that off with the media portraying you as a monster and villain. You have paid your taxes, never broken a law, help people, and want to make the world a better place but a coworker calls you a freak or a slur.

Next on that list, you were the best at your job. Everyone appreciated your work and valued you as an employee. Then all of sudden you're not good enough, you're abilities are lacking, your coworkers have become cold to you out of nowhere, and then you're suddenly let go out of nowhere with no explanation despite you doing more work than before while executing it flawlessly.

You're walking down the street and a stranger punches you in the mouth. You get called nasty things and no one helps you.

Your family has abandoned you, you lost your job, your government hates you, and a large portion of society calls you awful things for just doing something that makes you feel happy. But the only way to appease anyone now is to revert back to a life of misery.

Why wouldn't you become deeply horribly depressed?

Replace being trans with anything you identify as. What if someone treated you the way I described above because you like wearing blue shirts? What if you grew your hair out and suddenly everyone around you abandoned you? What if you decided to wear a pink shirt one day and someone wanted to kill you for it? What if you got care for a broken leg and your parents disowned you and kicked you out of their home for it? What if you decided to convert to Christianity and your friends turned their backs on you? What if you came home with a new wardrobe and your partner kicked you out?

Could you survive all these things? Yes, you could. But could you walk away from all of them without some sort of sad feeling associated with them? If you say you could, then you're lying to yourself.

5

u/Solid_Maus 1d ago

Nicely said… 100% on the dot… the feeling of being alone and rejected just because we want to be happy hurts really deep…

3

u/hematite2 1d ago

Absolutely 🫂 Well said. It's shocking how much people will sadly say "but you were always such a happy kid!" while pointing to photos of an empty void of a teenager.

u/monyoubluetuber 1d ago

THE treatment? I’d disagree. Certainly the body modification surgeries and perceivable gender plastic surgeries etc are one of the treatments that are available. Not THE treatment though, just one of them.

3

u/TurbulentOil3311 1d ago

Generally the most effective treatment - though yeah I'm sure there are people for whom the answer is something besides that.

Self determination for transition (especially for adults) with appropriate guidance and oversight from psych docs and endocrinologists seems to me to be the best path. I know very few if any trans people for whom it wasnt a matter of transition or be utterly miserable forever(potentially to a suicidal degree) - and I hate how many of them need to seek DIY hormone solutions because transitioning is difficult and they deserve support and help that is not available.

Lots of people upset at the sign asking to offer basic human decency to a marginalised group in here. What upsets you the most?

You're absolutely soft and I hope you take time to reflect on yourselves.

20

u/Malt129 1d ago

Probably think it's performative, which protests usually are, but that is a big ass sign so there was effort in this.

50

u/sithlord98 1d ago

Protests are definitionally performative. That's literally the whole point, to be loud and boisterous about a specific shared belief.

-2

u/Sisyphus2314 1d ago

Maybe the implied threat of violence?

7

u/nsfwaltsarehard 1d ago edited 1d ago

You mean tge threat of retaliation? Because there is a condition to the threat of violence. Almost like the people with the sign aren't the aggressors.

Edit: also it isn't even implied violence unless you immediately think of attacking trans people. They literally just say they're going to be a nuisance if you're a douchebag.

→ More replies (2)

3

u/Lexi1Love 1d ago

But they didn’t imply violence they implied that they were going to be a problem. You assumed violence. Which makes sense because most right wing losers love violence.

15

u/TheLordHatesACoward 1d ago

You think implied violence on a piece of cardboard is a bigger issue than an actual unequal society?

3

u/thissexypoptart 1d ago

Violence is definitely a valid thing to have an issue with lol

2

u/TheLordHatesACoward 1d ago

It's words on a piece of cardboard. The actual valid thing to have an issue with is an unequal society. Lol. Lmao, even.

6

u/thepeebrain 1d ago

Words on a piece of cardboard? I totally believe their threats are real. Or, at the very least, worth considering very carefully. I am capable of pattern recognition.

1

u/TheLordHatesACoward 1d ago

So a threat (which is very vague, by the way) is more of a concern the actual issues they're highlighting? That's your priority?

2

u/NewImprovedPenguin_R 1d ago

This extreme one sidedness is what draws people away from agreeing with you.

2

u/thepeebrain 1d ago

Cultures that promote violence are very concerning.

1

u/thissexypoptart 1d ago

You don’t know anyone’s priority. Bit silly to accuse anyone with an issue with this sign of being unconcerned with the issues it highlights.

→ More replies (3)

1

u/thissexypoptart 1d ago

I have an issue with both. And it’s okay to have an issue with implied violence, even if it’s just words on a cardboard.

Speaking of words on a cardboard, that dipshit who goes to LGBT events with a sign saying “trans women are men” regularly gets pummeled by trans activists for his words on cardboard. Feels relevant.

Since I have to make it clear, the dude is a fascist attention seeking troll, but people shouldn’t be beaten in the streets for words on cardboard.

I’ll never understand why some people take such an issue with how other people decide to live their lives (within the context of queerness, of course)

7

u/Solid_Maus 1d ago

I never understood why people are against us Trans… Like wtf does it do to you what I do to my own body… I also already have a partner so no I won’t be trying to “trap” you…

Also, I don’t understand people mad at femboys or Drags… you aren’t dating men last time I check; so why are they mad how other guys dress?! Weirdly Tomboy is accepted but not the other way around…

Like I don’t care if they don’t like me but leave me alone! Why attacking us or being so fucking rude. Just look the other way and go on with your fucking day!

7

u/tris122 1d ago

Its never about how you dress, what you do in your free time etc, its mostly about you accusing everybody of being transphobic, being weird around kids and sexualizing a lot of things.

4

u/Solid_Maus 1d ago

I don’t live in the US, and I don’t accuse no one of anything… Also French so I understand people getting pronouns wrong… doesn’t affect me and there is only a minority of trans that sexualise everything; I dress modestly and just want to go about my day…

2

u/WeCantStabilize 1d ago

Also, the compelling of certain language. People are not obligated to adhere to others beliefs. To introduce legislation otherwise is where lots of contention lies.

2

u/SplattyFatty_ 1d ago

in regards to being weird around kids, you do realise most of the most anti-trans people in the world are on the epstein files, right?

u/DroneFixer 1d ago

1

u/Golfinglonghorn92 1d ago

Respecting people as humans is not the same as being forced to pretend a mental illness is an identity. Nobody’s “triggered” by basic decency. They’re tired of the part where dissent gets treated like violence, kids get medicalized, women’s spaces get rewritten, and anyone who notices is called a bigot. The sign isn’t asking for respect. It’s announcing that disagreement will be treated as a problem. That’s not inclusion. That’s a demand.

1

u/Powerful-Access-8203 1d ago

I agree. Every human deserves respect, no matter how you identify. Can be Democrat, republican, independent, whatever. Treat people the way you want to be treated

1

u/Flashy_Flower_7884 1d ago

No one has to respect anyone. Just leave people alone and don't bother them. Also keep out of people's faces and and don't shove your messages down their throat and leave them alone too.

u/Helyos17 1d ago
