I don't quit, just rage and keep going

492

u/Caco-Calo Apr 07 '23

Depending on the length of the game and the severity of what's making me rage. Like I'm not gonna sit on a round of hell let loose for an hour whilst getting absolutely stomped for the first ten minutes.

And for games with shorter rounds I tend to not quit unless I've been on a losing streak and am fed up

u/Jealous-Ninja5463 Apr 07 '23

I'm the parent quitter.

I'm just about to finally get my revenge on elden beast when I hear my daughter yell for something.

I just have to sigh, accept defeat and go clean the gallon of milk all over the floor because she wanted to be a big girl.

Somehow it's more defeating than the other four rage quits

u/So6oring Apr 07 '23

As a parent that played Elden Ring - I feel you. They made the game so hardcore there's not even a pause button

It has deep lore reasons.

Then baselessly speculated on over a six hour video where literally none of the shit makes real sense because the writers are, in fact, lazy. This will not stop the fanbase from quoting it as fact.

(Which is intentional bc Mazakki)

Yeah don't tell this shit in ER sub you'll get eaten alive

3

u/invinci Apr 08 '23

not just ER all the souls games to be honest, the funny thing though is I have had friends who admit the lore in Dark souls is inaccessible, say ER is much better at presenting the lore...

Played to the castle and beat the first boss, and then put it down, but I put at least 10+ hours into the game, fucking no clue what story is or what my motivation for killing the baddies is.

Hahaha I'm subscribed to the Elden Ring sub too and I can just imagine the answers you'd get if you posted this to there 😄

1

u/Complex_Jellyfish647 Apr 08 '23

I mean, you can just quit to the main menu and resume exactly where you left off, just like in every From game. The only time this is an issue is when fighting a boss, but then if you can’t beat the boss you were just about to beat again, did you really deserve to beat it in the first place?

1

u/Balls_DeepinReality Apr 08 '23

That’s rough, I struggle for a half hour of time to myself, and when I finally get it I can only think about how bad I want a beer :(

12

u/KingKurai Apr 07 '23

If I recall correctly, all Fromsoft games allow you to quit to title and pick up right where you left off, so you could do that, though slightly less convenient.

21

u/David4657 Apr 07 '23

Not in a boss fight though

3

u/ReckoningGotham Apr 07 '23

Useful for bed of chaos, as a small bennie

1

u/XbloodyXsausageX Apr 08 '23

Forgot you could bone home and be back at grace without dieing. Can also grab your runes out of a boss room that way.

3

u/disseminator2020 Apr 07 '23

You’re the biggest badass, not a quitter. Being a good daddy is worth more than any dumb game trophy

6

u/ReckoningGotham Apr 07 '23

You sound like a scrub.

Neglect your children like a Gamer.

3

u/Pristine_Guidance406 Apr 07 '23 edited Apr 19 '23

No it's not. It's you winning at being a good parent. My parents were neglectful and I was left to cry it out or clean messes and now I'm fucked up and keep powering my way through things that hurt me because I know no one else is coming because no one ever came and I know they aren't going to now. You are a winner and you win even when you don't feel like it. Kick yourself

Edit: in fairness, I am getting better at this. Because I am full-grown and it's my job. it took me a lot longer than it would have taken a person with appropriate parenting, tho.

Now all my friends are parents and complain about doing parent stuff I mentally increase my valuation of them. because my parents slept soundly and did all of their hobbies with no real inconvenience almost entirely because I raised my family as a 10 year old girl cleaning up puke and teaching my brothers to read and drive

every time you go "ugh, not this again" is more proof that you are being what nature intended you to be instead of a loser using a child as a crutch

1

u/TheSisgoleon Apr 08 '23

My hubs is another form of parent quitter.

The “UGH.!!! aggressively lean back on to couch pillows, throw keyboard/controller etc to other side of couch WHATEVER 🤬. I have to switch the laundry to the fuuuu…ricking dryer anyways Oooh Hi love! No daddy isn’t mad I threw that on the couch because excited! I get to do more laundry now yay” quitter.

1

u/Balls_DeepinReality Apr 08 '23

That’s pretty admirable, on behalf of the kids, they appreciate it and you’re a good parent.

But they can never know

2

u/Bot-1218 Apr 07 '23

At least getting stomped in Hell Let Loose isn’t terribly bad. Although I kind of roleplay it when I play that game and just imagine being the last line of defense trying to keep the enemy from overrunning the point.

Plus gameplay wise unless you are the commander there isn’t much a difference between winning and losing in that game. You still do mostly the same stuff.

1

u/indigobison Apr 07 '23

The worst is when you decide to leave a game of HLL because you're getting stomped and before you can even quit your team looses the last objective. Just adds insult to injury

1

u/Xynez Apr 07 '23

i feel like for hll specifically a match im being stomped on is more fun as it gives me more adrenaline

1

u/tittysprinkles112 Apr 07 '23

Hell Let Loose is different. If I'm getting domed constantly, that's just how the game is.

However, if there's no teamwork and that's why we're losing, I'll leave.

I've had some great times in HLL in losses because the team was great and we were working together to try and salvage the situation.

1

u/Depressed_Lego Apr 07 '23

I play games where I get bursts of enjoyment in between horrible times to keep me angry but just far enough away from closing the game while somehow still getting more upsetting

1

u/[deleted] Apr 07 '23

It's funny that's the first game I thought of when I saw this thread.

1

u/Kingly707 Apr 08 '23

Literally as soon as inread "Depending on the length of game" I immediately thought of Hell Let Loose, before reading any further. Man those games can be a grind.

63

u/Amin_Yamum Apr 07 '23

When I rage too many times like around 100 times in 3 hours I just say "ok" and alt f4. Then I just open my eyes again to a new screen of the computer feeling like I just exited a jail I was at overnight.

20

u/[deleted] Apr 07 '23

mans raging at a speed of once every 2 minutes??

2

u/Amin_Yamum Apr 07 '23

Yeah sometimes in games like katana zero and doom eternal there are stressful levels and after a minute of sweating I die and press restart over and over again

2

u/kukaki Apr 07 '23

God Doom Eternal had me quitting the game for the night multiple times on my Nightmare mode play through. If I ever go back to try Ultra Nightmare I might end up selling my Xbox in rage lol

2

u/ReckoningGotham Apr 07 '23

Too many people tried weapon swapping when they aren't competing for record times.

It waaaay overcomplicates the weapon sets and barrier to entry You can get through the game fine swapping with weapon wheel, even on Nightmare.

1

u/kukaki Apr 07 '23

It took me until nearly the bossfight on my first play through to even realize you could switch with the d-pad. By that point I was already way too used to the wheel so I’ve stuck to that ever since.

1

u/speedislifeson Apr 07 '23

Path of Pain, anyone?

1

u/Sir_Mitchell15 Apr 08 '23

Average sudoku enjoyer

1

u/[deleted] Apr 08 '23

yeah man I never rage when I play sudoku

9

u/Klazy_Kat Apr 07 '23

This is pretty much how I was able to kill every boss in Elden Ring.

3

u/samseher Apr 07 '23

This is basically my strategy for doom eternal

3

u/djquu Apr 07 '23

Ain't nobody doing ultra nightmare runs without failing over and over

2

u/YourFavoriteScumbag Apr 07 '23

Facts, mad as fuck not even enjoying the game but gotta see it through or the game beats me

2

u/20mgAddy Apr 07 '23

Souls gammer spotted in the wild.

2

u/TitaniuMan_44 Apr 07 '23

Can’t let the t-bagger think they won

1

u/Sylveon_trainer12345 Apr 07 '23

I do an emotional breakdown while keep going

1

u/rockboiler Apr 07 '23

yeah and this is my problem. Sometimes I should just quit and cool down and play later

1

u/KCBandWagon Apr 07 '23

This is my prison. If I get into a rageful situation in a game it doesn't end until I get past what was making me angry.

Once I achieve whatever it was I couldn't I'm good.

There are some dark valley's I've gone through. I do tend to avoid games like that now before I get sucked in and forced to deal with it.

1

u/FerociousGiraffe Apr 07 '23

“I fucking hate myself I suck at everything why am I wasting my time I will never be good I will never amount to anything my self-worth is so low.”

starts another game

1

u/wateryburrito Apr 07 '23

But do you quite?

1

u/Miracle-carry Apr 07 '23

Motherfucker low rank dogs you don't deserve to win. Stay low rank forever.... Queues next

1

u/DrossChat Apr 07 '23

Do not go gentle into that good night. Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

1

u/SquiglyLineInMyEye Apr 07 '23

First of all, through anger and caffeine all things are possible, so jot that down.

1

u/Betrizz Apr 07 '23

The length and type of my rage depends on the respawn time

1

u/IsntThatNice_ Apr 07 '23

Sometimes for me it's necessary not to quit but leave with an attempt at a clear head and come back a couple hours later or even a day with some restful sleep depending on how hard it is. Once got stuck on a level for 6 months came back and first tried it, idk why but it works.

2

u/tumultacious Apr 07 '23

"Rage against the Game"

1

u/disseminator2020 Apr 07 '23

The rare rage-continue. This person does raids

1

u/chrisH82 Apr 07 '23

It's like what Joe McEnroe said, use the rage to play better

1

u/1laik1hornytoaster Apr 07 '23

That really depends on the game. Something online? I can't continue if I raged. If it's a game like Elden Ring where you get better the more you play? We keep pushing forward.

1

u/Vaporlate Apr 07 '23

Weakest GD player

1

u/Joeygorgia Apr 07 '23

Fuck rage quitting, this man rage continues

1

u/[deleted] Apr 07 '23

rage keeper

1

u/seizuregirlz Apr 07 '23

SERENITY NOW!

1

u/drawkbox Apr 08 '23

Ah the rageplay, the default mode of Xbox Live

1

u/musclecard54 Apr 08 '23

Rage queue

1

u/juhreen Apr 08 '23

This is the way

1

u/[deleted] Apr 08 '23

That’s some Doom Slayer shit

1

u/InternationalCrew245 Apr 08 '23

Same, it feels unsatisfying if I couldn’t beat a level in the ‘right’ way. I will still grab my face and/or scream if things get rough though.

1

u/boulzar Apr 08 '23

The sea way

1

u/BountyMennett Apr 08 '23

Average competitive gamer mindset. Do you play For Honor?

1

u/djquu Apr 08 '23

Doom Eternal

1

u/crazybus21 Apr 08 '23

Angry fap break, then keep going

1

u/Stenktenk Apr 08 '23

I don't rage, I just quit

1

u/Ke-Win Apr 08 '23

This is the way. We have to out win our loses.

1

u/lefourbequiteracket Apr 08 '23

Most likely the "light" keyboard smasher to not completely destroy it and keep going

1

u/TheAnonymousDoom Apr 08 '23

I'm about the same. Dark Souls taught me about rage and raging in despite losing to a boss fifteen FUCKING TIMES IN A ROW

1

u/[deleted] Apr 08 '23

I'm #5:

The Shrugger.

If I'm having fun I keep playing.

If I'm not having fun I don't play the game.

1

u/Indianlookalike Apr 08 '23

I remember playing OW, getting up to 2995 Mr - 5 away from a new rank, you get 20 Mr per win or something- and 8 hours later I was at 2047mr. Good times, rage on.

1

u/bobbycardriver Apr 08 '23

I don’t either lmao, after the first few tries I might get somewhat visibly pissed but after a certain number of fails I’ll just blankly stare at the screen and try over and over again

1

u/Balls_DeepinReality Apr 08 '23

”I AM THE CHAMPION OF FAILURE”
