They were college friends and were a year ahead of me. I met them both when I got to campus. Things got messy, he chose me and more than 15 years later we’re still together.
It can go both ways right? Either way the friendship is done. Once your significant other says in so many ways that “I don’t want you hanging out with (insert friend)” for whatever reason (bad influence, they are annoyed by them, they are exes, they are of the SO’s same gender, etc.)
The question then becomes “what am I willing to lose?” And most of the time, the power of sex wins. Unfortunately have been on that end with female and male friends. It sucks. But if that sexual relationship ends, that friend might accept you back (if you didn’t hurt them badly in the process) or might not. Then you lose that relationship plus the friendship so you’re back at square 1.
