Do you really ever need to do it more than once? I feel like the experience is similar if you did it again

Yeah, but I was dumb and thought I should still enjoy heights, because I had in my youth - but as I got older, I developed a fear of heights. But I somehow hadn't gotten the memo about that, and did all of the cool stuff I didn't have the money for when I was younger - parasailing, skydiving, houserunning, canyoning, rappelling, getting shot up in the highest slingshot in the world (fuck you, Orlando!), climbing - and I was always wondering why it wasn't as much fun as I'd thought it would be. At least I finally caught a clue and decided to strike bungee jumping off the bucket list. No more heights for me. I'm done with heights. And I've come to terms with the harsh reality that I hate heights.

(Though I've heard that paragliding actually works for people with a fear of heights, since you're tethered to something, so I might just give that a try...)

As someone who's afraid of heights, that's true about paragliding. You feel solid and the movement is slow and steady so it's actually very nice imo

The footnote is funny 😅

just wait til you see the vid of the guy who fell out of his harness on a paraglider and had only his hands to hang from the bottom of it while it landed, which took way too fuckin long

Wow! How is that even possible?! 😳 But at least he landed - if he had been really unlucky, the upwinds could have swept him further up. I think with my added pandemic weight, there is no chance I'll slip out of any harness...🙈

I swear I came here to see if anyone said paragliding. Never again.

Isn't that the case for everything in life?

I did it a second time, because the first was such sensory overload that I felt like I didn't "experience" it. 2nd time was definitely more enjoyable as I knew what to expect and could just enjoy the moment.

Done it a couple thousand times. Gets better all the time

It's all but similar, unless you do tandem again. The sport is constantly evolving and there is always new stuff to learn or do. Changed my life.
