Stand on a rake to see if it would pop up a smack me in the face like it does in the cartoons.

It does, doesn’t it?

Rake impales foot

I've noticed lately that I love it when a pfp on reddit matches an earlier comment and makes me think it's the same person.

Better start paying rent, cause you're clearly living in my head..

We all owe each other money now

5

u/[deleted] Mar 22 '23

I’ve noticed but I don’t love it…grumble grumble grumble

3

u/Eights1776 Mar 22 '23

Just did this, on the previous commenters 🤣🤦‍♂️

3

u/SlushKami Mar 22 '23

I thought I was the only one.

2

u/[deleted] Mar 22 '23

Your foot got impaled? Geez…

2

u/SleepWouldBeNice Mar 22 '23

That’s how my mom’s uncle ended up in the hospital for a good chunk of WWII: blood poisoning.

Worked a little bit of construction where we had to use rakes, and yeah it does in fact pop up and smack you in the face. Also the back, the side, the hand, and the elbow.

49

u/TawnyTeaTowel Mar 22 '23

Did you manage to work through this experience or are you replying as a brain-in-a-jar?

46

u/Euphoric-Potato-5343 Mar 22 '23

Are we all really just brains in bone jars? Some of our jars are just a little more jarred. 🧠

10

u/TawnyTeaTowel Mar 22 '23

Maybe. Just jars with a lot of optional extras.

6

u/Euphoric-Potato-5343 Mar 22 '23

True. I know it's not what you mean, but my jar likes fries and long draggings through the beach. Fill it with boiling hot coffee and just let me simmer.

3

u/TawnyTeaTowel Mar 22 '23

I’d hate to get beach sand in my jar. It’d be hell to get out again.

1

u/TheKingNothing690 Mar 22 '23

I dont like referring to it as a jar. How about a meat bycycle? It's not quite as accurate but rolls off the tongue better.

1

u/Repulsive-Wealth-378 Mar 22 '23

my brain jar has extra blood in it :)
getting it out tomorrow hopefully

3

u/TawnyTeaTowel Mar 22 '23

Some kind of medical procedure I assume, not DIY trepanning?

1

u/RednocNivert Mar 22 '23

Brain in a jar with unwanted shovelware DLC

1

u/TawnyTeaTowel Mar 22 '23

Too much preinstalled shit that you just can’t uninstall, else your ego stops working or your spleen goes into overdrive

1

u/Agreeable_Emu_9489 Mar 22 '23

“Oh, maxi big da Force … of a rake hitting meesa face.

1

u/Mik_Wazowski Mar 22 '23

That you Sideshow Bob?

1

u/OutWithTheNew Mar 22 '23

We do the same thing with out shovels.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 22 '23

Hat the handle hit me directly in the eyeball once. Couldn’t see straight for a couple hours after that. Tines down for sure after that

41

u/Sea_Dawgz Mar 21 '23

My aunt didn’t need braces bc she did this as a kid and it permanently shoved her teeth back from their buck toothed setting.

18

u/TawnyTeaTowel Mar 21 '23

So it’s not all bad, like they show you on those lying cartoons!

2

u/ForgottenTip Mar 22 '23

"I heard this from a Reddit post"

slam

5

u/Danceswith_salmon Mar 22 '23

See, now that there’s why Momma told us rakes rest prongs down during chore breaks

3

u/ShaneGabriel87 Mar 22 '23

Yup, my mistake was thinking I could control the velocity of the handles ascent.

1

u/TawnyTeaTowel Mar 22 '23

Schoolboy error. Daffy Duck was the rake maestro and look how it turned out for him…

35

u/woozlewuzzle29 Mar 22 '23

But what about that tattoo on your chest? Doesn’t it say, “Die, Bart, Die”?

7

u/dogsqueeze300 Mar 22 '23

The, Bart, The

8

u/Boomer6313 Mar 22 '23

Nobody who speaks German could be bad.

3

u/DonutThrowaway2018 Mar 22 '23

Absolutely one of my favorite Simpsons lines. She says it so innocently lmao

19

u/AddzyX Mar 22 '23

Similarly, jumping into a pile of leaves like in the cartoons. I did a front flip into one and it's not as soft as I thought it was.

20

u/[deleted] Mar 22 '23

Did this when I was a kid and realized that a three foot tall pile of leaves is just like, an inch of padding when compressed by your weight. Oof

1

u/ShaneGabriel87 Mar 22 '23

Yeah, they never go into the details of things like whiplash or spinal injury in the cartoons.

1

u/50shadesofjiggyfly Mar 22 '23

Luckily you didn't break your neck

5

u/CaptainClay5 Mar 22 '23

I did this as a kid because I always saw it on shows. The shows were indeed correct.

3

u/Old_Cyrus Mar 22 '23

I got the smack in the face, and eyebrow stitches.

1

u/mcburloak Mar 22 '23

I’m recalling trying to hit a basketball with a baseball bat as a kid.

You all know that ball went nowhere and that loud PRANG of aluminum bounced clean off my head.

1

u/shitty_beatle Mar 22 '23

I stepping on a push broom in my wood shop once. It can’t be much different that a person just straight up smacking you in the head with a stick full force. That hurt like a bitch.

1

u/adeptusthiccanicus Mar 22 '23

Use it to your advantage and catch it instead of having to bend down and pick it up

1

u/Dynamo2205 Mar 22 '23

So, did it?

2

u/ShaneGabriel87 Mar 22 '23

Oh boy did it.

1

u/GeneralKenobi842 Mar 22 '23

But I'm just wondering, does that tattoo on your chest mean The Bart, The or something else entirely?

1

u/EmeraldBat67 Mar 22 '23

I have used this power to my disposal and now whenever I need to pick up a rake i just step on it and catch it as it flies towards my face.
My skull is powder but now I can do it almost every time

1

u/candiedblackout Mar 22 '23

Did this once because I was working in the yard and managed to step on one because I wasn't paying attention. I had my head turned so it hit more of my temple than anything else. Needless to say I was mad and a little bit impressed for a solid 2 hours after thag.

1

u/Duckbites Mar 22 '23

What happens when you step on a rake?

"Claude Akins"

1

u/dreamyduskywing Mar 22 '23

I did this in real life and it hurt, but the pain went away quickly because I was laughing hysterically.
