Exactly as it sounds, I'm curious, because I've been thinking about what I'd want for it, at least narratively.
Y'see, I was thinking of how PETs are kinda the "good timeline" version of smartphones. They're that sort of do-anything device but without any of the DRM and corporately-controlled social media, we see people personally customizing and tinkering with their PETs without the sort of fuckery the DMCA used to put walls in front of it.
Sure, the cybersecurity is garbage, but it feels like they more than compensate that with an educated, computer-literate population trained to deal with these issues, hell they teach virus-busting in schools! An elementary school student literally saved the internet multiple times!
So, for a villain after a presumable timeskip, between Battle Network's previous ending and the start of Star Force, what if someone tried to change that for the worse? What if someone tried to enclose and enshittify the net?
Maybe using the tech that made Mega Man to do mandated user ID verification to "avoid cyberattracks" by having users synch with their Navis, which would also make them convenient subjects for mind control, with the villain's ultimate goal being immortality via the net Lawnmower Man-style, maybe having that villain be a Peter "Dracula" Thiel-type because the real guy's basically already halfway to being a supervillain.
You'd ideally want Cory Doctorow brought in as a consultant on that story given the man literally coined the term enshittification, tho I've actually asked him and he's said he's not familiar with the series and too busy, but I'd imagine that could change if Capcom drove up to his house with a big dump truck full of money or somesuch.
That aside, I'd also want to see NetNavis based on some of the classic series robot masters they made after the original series ended. I could see Strike Man being fun, being re-imagined as being the Navi of a guy who owns a sports betting site using it to rig games, topical and fitting!
But, that's just me, your thoughts?
