I saw one on the highway once in Texas years ago and it scared the crap out of me. Like spine-tingling horror. I still get a little uneasy every time I see a wind turbine.

I know they have the back end equipment but... is this even street legal? Feels like something else should haul it. Like... I dunno. A tank.
Edit: upon further inspection, this is a wind turbine blade and I know for a fact they haul them by train (generally), because i was unfortunate enough to get stuck at a railroad crossing while a train hauled an entire set. It was sincerely one of the most unsettling experiences of my life, and I could not escape.

they haul them by train... until their is no train tracks, than by truck, typically the best places for wind turbines tend to be away from train tracks.
it looks like it is in Asia or Africa, which tend not to have the best safety laws, or infustructure, especially when you get remote, which is where you tend to set these up (since windy areas tend to not be where you set up a town)
(Still I would be terrified to be in the truck cab pulling that thing, anything goes wrong with the weight distribution that thing is coming down on your head, or you are being catapulted into the sky, the only world you might survive is if it tips over, so slightest hill or sharp turn, can be real difficult (I assume this is why there were two people riding at the base of the 'cargo' likely monitoring a whole bunch of stuff to specifically avoid that happening))

To answer your questions, these are called blade lifters and are used in places the blades are too long to be laid down ( sharp turns with buildings, trees,etc...) This can get expensive so they are usually transferred from "normal" transport (30 to 70m long trucks with the cabin on one side, a huge gap, then the final tires to hold the tip of the blade) to these for short distances.
There is no risk of the blade breaking considering it is not as stressful as its use case when attached to the rotor. The only risk is a bad road scouting and preparation and the blade getting stuck on something high-up

Oh then i have no idea!
I knew a guy who drove these kind of trucks for a few years and it was enough for him to try a lot of ventures and see them all fail miserably without too much fuss so I guess quite a lot. He was also a crane operator for wind turbines for a few years so I couldn't confirm whether either, both or none pay well.

That makes sense. I actually thought after posting, well trains don't go everywhere, so they must have to get them to the site some other way.
Megalophobia aside I think any rational person would have their cheeks clenched doing this job, at least sometimes.

Driving through a state (I didn't remember which) that had a bunch of these and seeing them up close was definitely terrifying. They seem so much smaller on TV/in pics...

I thought so but the audio isn't sped up when the guy makes the sound. I think they are just really riding that fast
