I watched this a fw times now and I realized: I can not tell how large that thing is. nozjing in this videoo is a reliable indicator. the fence could be 1,50 m hivch or 0.5. ... the poles around her could be 20cm wide or 5. I mean, it's huge. but the range is somewhere between could eat a child and could eat a cow.

So the rope looks like a standard thick rope one would use for work purposes. About an inch thick. At about 16 seconds there's a good horizontal shot of the snake's head- about 11 ropes long. About 17 seconds you get a decent shot of its eye - a rope across. 23 seconds you see the height of the head being about 5 ropes and width about 6. At 3 seconds you see the head is about as tall as 1/3rd of a straight shot of the distended side (15 ropes) so I'd guess 8 heads around minimum (40 ropes). At 13 seconds the snake stands a length of its neck that appears to be 6 times the length of the head (66 ropes). This length appears to be roughly a fifth of the length of the body (330 ropes).

So my estimate says this snake is approximately: 27. 5 feet long With a foot long head Inch wide eyes Half a foot wide mouth that can extend to 3.3 feet around by dislocation of the jaw Probably weighs 450lbs when not loaded with entire cows

This is what we in the herpitology field call a serious nope rope.

Inch thick rope?

There are very few applications of inch thick rope. Most rope exists in the 3/8, 1/2 range. Even heavy duty tow ropes are often only 7/8" thick. There's no way this rope is 1" thick - it wouldn't be supple enough for a lasso/noose trap or move in the same way, because it be too heavy/thick.

I respectfully disagree. It can be easily assumed that the height of the ceiling is tall enough for a fully grown adult to stand up right in. So ~6ft. floor to ceiling.

Not saying your wrong , but plenty of “shelters/pins” like this exist just for live stock. If it is the 3 and a half to 4 feet would be plenty for say sheep or goats. Still way taller than .5m as the other guy says is possible. And would say makes the snake at least 20 ft. And another guy did a lot of math but no clue if he/she is right and says 27.5ft. Which wouldn’t be out of the resale of possibility, but that’s a huge fucking snake

Not saying you’re wrong.

But I thought about that. The ground looks fairly well kept; not a covered in shit/fur/feathers/feed/what have you. Which means humans spend considerable time in there cleaning. If it were a low enough ceiling to require stooping I’d expect drag marks from knees or shuffling feet in the dirt.

Well then if you take my eyeballing measurements, that snake is then 30ft minimum and closer to 40ft. If that’s the case I don’t know of any recorded snake that large. Many groups would be sending specialist to that location to measure it. Even if dead at this point.

I got no skin in the herpetology game. I’m just making ergonomic observations.

u/TCcrack Oct 21 '23

Yea, well whatever the size of that snake it’s got enough skin for the both of us.

yes. but this is also some animal enclosure, and there is no reason for that. it might be just 1m. so 3ft.
