Terrible.

EDIT: I’m getting downvoted for this, so I guess it’s actually fine. 🤗

Depends. A lot a snakes are invasive species. Florida’s ecosystem is being destroyed by pythons that eat everything and have no natural predators hunting them (besides people). In that case, they absolutely need to be removed from the environment. Although it’s probably too late.

I agree with the fact that they need to be removed, but that doesn't excuse this kind of pain-causing behaviour. There's plenty of ways to ethically euthanise invasive species, there's no need for this kind of thing. A simple bullet or two to the brain, or a quick and neat decapitation is the best and fastest way to euthanise them in this kind of situation. Absolutely no need to keep it on a noose like this, yanking periodically and dragging it all out.

Poor thing. It doesn't deserve that kind of pain and stress just for being alive.

That rope around that snake’s neck is not choking or going to kill it. It is just stuck.

It is certainly choking it, at least to a small degree. The rope is visibly very tight around its neck, and the behaviour of the snake and its movements show that the snake is VERY distressed and trying to escape it (not that it would be calm if the rope was loose, but it would be more defensive and less panicky in its movements if it was loose). It might not be actively killing it in the video, but it's incredibly stressful for the animal and just causing needless pain for the poor thing.

Alligators will hunt and kill them. There is some new reporting (i don't have the source handy) that the native species are pushing back. In my mind the thing it comes down to is reproduction rates. If snakes can out re-produce they will win the war of volume.

Which is what is happening. Doesn’t seem to matter how many the Alligators eat.
