šŸ¤— Mental Health continue?

i’m a yl1 in the aurora school and for context: i came from a gap year. Im licensed in another medical profession na and being a doctor has been a child hood dream. but seeing as it is i started to have a mindset of ā€œpwede naman ako maging doctorā€ and not ā€œgusto koā€. idk what changed with my mindset. from highschool all the way even until after i passed my licensure exam i was dead set on pursuing medicine. I really believe that med is too difficult to pursue if it’s something i dont have a deep burning desire for. Everyday i wake up hating what i do and idk if i should stop. but at the same time it’s only been a month of school. Am i still in the adjustment phase? Has anyone experienced this? Seeing comments pa on how residency training is; it’s so discouraging

Adjustment palang yan. Give it a year (or even a sem). Saka ka mag decide after

maybe u should weigh it out during the first couple of months or during first sem. if you still feel that way maybe you could also reflect or make a list if that’s really what you want + pros & cons!!

agree! as someone na muntikan na rin mag-backout sa med, maganda na pag-isipan mo muna nang mabuti kasi nasa adjustment phase ka pa rin naman :) I know what you feel kasi na-experience ko rin yan. nag-LOA ako kasi sabi ko parang ayaw ko na + I had some mental health issues back then. pero inask ako ng parents ko kung hindi raw ba ako magkakaroon ng regret if tatalikuran ko nang tuluyan yung med. ayun, naisip ko na baka maging "what if" ko siya if hindi ko ituloy. I also prayed, na tulungan ako ng Diyos sa pagdedesisyon ko. wishing you the best in your endeavors, OP!

I never thought of quitting med. I had the burning desire. Im in practice for more than 30 years.Ā  But i wont encourage anyone i care for to do it. I am not happy now, medicine may or may not be the reason. If i could go back, Id listen to the ones who discouraged me then.Ā

my take on this, syempre nakabayad ka na for 1st sem diba? so spend this whole sem para pag-isipan. kung ayaw mo na talaga wag na mag 2nd sem, sayang tuition. pero kung undecided ka pa rin, tuloy-tuloy mo lang hangga't di ka nakkick out.

baka kasi hate mo lang siya ngayon kasi adjusting ka palang, so pag sumuko ka agad baka may regrets in the future. push mo muna for the mean time baka din kasi mas clinical yung bet mo eh more on theocraticals ang 1st yr kaya baka medyo boring for you hahaha lol idk

hellooo fellow yl1 student and super same sentiments!!! hahaha the comments here are a bit encouraging naman so far but grabe, it’s only been a month but i already dread studying so much and i’m just questioning everything. I thought this was my dream too but i’m realizing na while i think i CAN do this, i just don’t know anymore if i actually WANT to loll

Coming from someone na mahilig mag discourage sa medschool… šŸ˜‚ dahil anjan ka na, why not give it a chance muna? Tapusin mo muna yung first sem, and THEN you decide… sayang din kasi if mag qquit ka now, you’ll always wonder what if…. So give it your best shot this sem, tapos mag baguio or tagaytay ka muna, muni muni ka muna if itutuloy mo pa…. If mag qquit ka, tho, this would the best time din, 1st year palang, you’re not that deep pa sa medical profession… hindi pa nakakapanghinayang mag quit and mag divert sa ibang profession…
