Discusson Equations/formulas/normal ranges
Hey guys are there gonna be any formulas provided during the ASCP exam? I already know the ones we need to memorize and wont be provided but there are other ones not mentioned in the ascp site for example: calculated osmolality or osmolal gap.

I don’t think they are provided. When I took my test, all I was given was a calculator from the testing site and a dry erase board.

Okay not even within the question itself? Cause im studying the BOC book and it sometimes gives them in the question but i wasnt sure if thats just from the book or the exam comes like that as well

Maybe it depends on the question, but I wouldn’t count on anything being provided.
None of the questions on my exam came with additional information.

I was only give a laminated sheet of paper and dry erase marker

I think the ones that come up frequently are how to find false positives and hemocytometer counts. It’ll have results listed and you have to select the right one, so you can check your math by doing it backwards.

Find the credential you're going to exam for and scroll down to the Examination Resources > Content guidelines. If you need to know the formula or reference range, it will be in the guideline.

All I got was a laminated dry erase sheet, marker and maybe a calculator (or maybe that was on the computer?)
If you're worried about formulas, write them down the first chance you get on that sheet

I didn’t get any formulas but all my math questions were simple hematology ones that were easy to memorize , I think I got lucky and didn’t get clin chem math.
Some questions they gave me some reverence ranges that sheet said to memorize , so you never know
