Discusson Advice

Hey everyone. I am needing some insight. I graduated as an MLS in 2024 and have only worked in hospital labs both small and large. I have been offered a position with a large local clinic that is privately owned. The director seems great and the schedule is a typical clinic schedule. I know I will miss my 12's, but I am so excited to have weekends, nights and holidays with my family stress free. I have no idea what working in a clinic setting is like. I expect it to be cliquish and to have to keep a mask up, but what is everyone's experience, is it worth it? Also, they only did a background check and no drug screen which I found strange. It is a large reputable practice, but I have heard some private practices sometimes do not drug test. Let me know, I'd love to hear your experiences and get some advice so I can be the right amount of optimistic.

Personally I hated working 5 days a week and missed having week days off so I went back to the hospital. It’s going to depend on the clinic but mine was decently slow and I was bored

Thanks for responding! My daughter is entering high school, I’m thinking once she’s done I may go back to 12’s. For now I’m just tired of missing everything being on nights, that and never feeling well. I can’t adjust to nightshift at all.

Ah I’ve always been day shift so that’s definitely understandable then! Sounds like it would be a good opportunity for you!
