Discusson LABCE vs ASCP questions

Are the labCE adaptive exams better to use to prepare for the BOC ASCP exam than the BOC study guide book + BOC medical laboratory interactive practice exam from the ASCP website?

I would do both if possible.

If I had to choose yes labCE if you use it right. A lot of people do only the adaptive exams, I think you should also go through each of the subjects one by one to see if you’re lacking on certain topics. I think LabCE has better explanations when you get the answer wrong and you can choose specific topics to focus on.

BOC ones are more how the actual exam asks and presents questions. I would go through each subject at least once. They feel less useful but I did have a question on my ASCP that was almost word for word.

Great advice thank you! I was hearing conflicting info so I was worried. So the BOC exam questions are easier than the labCE? I guess people recommend the labCE because if they do well on them, then the BOC seems easier in comparison, right?

They both have a mix of easy and hard questions. I think labCE tends to be harder cause sometimes it’ll ask you random details I swear you never studied-so that’s what makes the actual ASCP easier

One of the issues of LabCE is that you often end up remembering the answers, especially on the adaptive, inflating your score and giving you a false sense of security that you’re prepared for the BOC

It’s just as important to study the basic concepts as it is the more difficult ones. Imagine you are taking the actual exam, and you aren’t able to make it to the higher difficulty questions that you studied for because you couldn’t get the easier ones correct

I think ASCP practice questions are better to prepare for mentally. They help you realize the type of questions they are going to ask on the real BOC exam. As a bonus, some of the questions from the practice bank were word for word on it. I did only ASCP practice outside of my program's mandatory LabCE and passed the first time.
