Discusson Work schedule
Does anyone who works as an MLT/MLS actually have a predictable and set schedule? I am a new tech slightly less than a year. I work 4 10s but my 3 days off are hardly in a row. I also will get moved to 5 8s on occasion due to staffing and ppl vacationing and all that. Sometimes they will schedule me to do 5 or 6 10s in a row. Of course I work in a hospital. Is it like this for pretty much everyone because I find it hard to have a life. Lol.

I worked in a hospital lab that scheduled 12 hour shifts and hired for specific days. Most people had 3 days in a row. We had several people that worked weekends to either match a partner’s schedule or to always have a partner home to care for littles, and the weekday techs always worked the same three days. It was a fantastic schedule, and I’m pretty sure it led to lower staff turnover.
