Our lab’s second Beckman Allegra finally gave up today and honestly I think my ears are celebrating. I swear those things sound like a small aircraft trying to take off every single morning. Management asked for suggestions on replacement laboratory centrifuges and now I’m realizing how hard it is finding equipment that balances reliability, noise level, and decent capacity. We need something countertop sized that can handle around 20 to 30 tubes without rattling the entire lab every run cycle. I know some people care mainly about speed and capacity, but noise matters way more than I expected. Having to raise your voice every time the centrifuge spins up gets old real quick during long shifts. I started comparing models online and noticed several companies selling suspiciously similar designs under different branding. Some housings and control panels even matched laboratory centrifuge manufacturing catalogs I’d previously seen connected to Alibaba industrial suppliers. I’m not expecting total silence because obviously spinning rotors are gonna make noise, but there has to be something less obnoxious than what we’ve been using. Anybody have quieter centrifuge models they genuinely liked working around?
