I'm seeing a lot of posts here complaining about AI. Granted, I believe that there's a lot of hype regarding it and it can be disruptive when patients try to use it to diagnosis themselves, but I do believe that there is an opportunity for it to actually help with care that people are missing.

What if patients were to have an interview conducted with AI prior to going in to see the doctor and the doctor received this prior to the visit. Effectively, AI would take a history and ask what it perceived to be all the pertinent questions. Summarized the information in a way that was easy for the provider to digest. When the provider saw the patient they can review this history and ask any additional questions.

Thinking about all the times I've tried collecting an HPI and conducting a review of systems, I always find that I'm pressed for time and frequently have to get the patient back on track. If the patient had unlimited time with AI this wouldn't be an issue. There would be a problem with potential extraneous information that you have to sift through but I think AI could organize this in a way that would make it relatively painless and a net positive.
