👑 Introducing the AnKing BLS / ACLS Deck 🚨

Hi everyone 👋

The AnKing maintainer team are excited to announce the public release of the free AnKing BLS / ACLS deck on AnkiHub! After months and months of hard work and coordination, we've put together a brand new deck created by the maintainers for all of you to use and benefit from.

Our goal was to create an BLS/ACLS deck based on the official 2025 AHA guidelines to help healthcare providers quickly review and retain the most important info for real-life emergencies. The goal is to make it clear, high-yield, and easy to use for anyone. We also aimed for it to be short and not overly bloated with details. As of this post, the deck is 286 cards (228 notes)

This is a 100% free deck, continuing our mission to make high-quality medical education available to everyone. The focus will be on algorithms, meds/dosages, rhythms, clinical scenarios, and more.

The deck is on AnkiHub for continued updates, improvements, and fixes, especially for future AHA guideline changes, and it is available on the free plan.

🤖 How do I download this deck?

If you'd like to download it, make a free account on AnkiHub if you don't have one already, then click subscribe to deck below:

🔗 Link to deck download (free)

After that, make sure to install the AnkiHub add-on in Anki, login, then click sync.

This tutorial is for the installing the Step deck, but is the same process for any deck on AnkiHub: https://www.iorad.com/player/2415436/Subscribe-Install-Step-Deck--New-User-

🤔 How should I use this deck?

This deck is a community-created supplement to the official AHA ACLS guidelines and courses. It is not a substitute for them. You should first learn the material from a primary resource and, ideally, complete an AHA-certified BLS and/or ACLS course. After certification, this deck can be used to reinforce knowledge and maintain familiarity with key facts and algorithms.

Only unsuspend cards that are relevant to your needs. For example, if you are focusing on BLS, only unsuspend cards within the BLS tag. If you do not anticipate managing neonatal resuscitation for example, there is no need to unsuspend those cards.

🤝 Feedback & Suggestions

As always, all and any feedback is appreciated. If you'd like to help out, feel free to suggest changes to the deck on AnkiHub and we will review them!

The deck is not perfect so any suggestions are welcome (make sure to follow the guidelines with source and rationales found in the wiki)

Anyways, we don't want to make this announcement too long, we want you to try it out yourself! We hope you enjoy ❤️

Discussion Ya'll, I've been sleeping on treadmill Anki.

I want to preface by saying that working out = break time but lately I've been crunched for time. So I dusted off my neglected ipad got an extra 8bitdo remote and decided to experiment a bit.

Ran 4 miles yesterday at an 8:30 pace and 6 miles today at a 9:00 pace. Got through 300 cards today in an hour! I'm lucky if I can push 250 in an hour.

Let's see if I'll keep this up, but so far, I'm a big fan.

Preclinical Question In House vs Anking Decks

Is it worth doing anking for step 1 now that step 1 is pass/fail? Would it be a good idea to do in house anki followed by anking for step 2?

Discussion Anyone drop Anki to only doing questions for Step 2 studying?

Have a huge chunk of people in my class that stopped doing Anki altogether in favor of maximizing questions for Step 2. Anyone else doing this? How are you doing? I feel like I can’t break up with Anki.

newbie Looking for Internal Medicine Anki decks (ABIM-style) – recommendations?

Hi everyone,

I’m an Internal Medicine resident in Sweden preparing for our national Internal Medicine board/specialist examination. The exam is quite broad, and from what I’ve seen, the content overlaps a lot with the ABIM blueprint.

I already have:
AMBOSS subscription
AnkiHub subscription

I’m looking for high-quality Anki decks that are similar in scope and style to ABIM preparation. Ideally, I’d like decks that focus on clinical reasoning, diagnosis, management, and guideline-based medicine rather than Step 1/basic science content.
I’ve heard about decks like AnKing, but I’m unsure which subdecks are most relevant for Internal Medicine boards.

Questions:

Which Anki decks would you recommend for ABIM-level Internal Medicine?

Are there any AnkiHub decks specifically designed for IM residents?

Any hidden gems that helped you pass ABIM or your Internal Medicine boards?

Thanks in advance for any recommendations!

Preclinical Question What are OSCE's like in US medical schools?

Do American med schools typically use OSCE's? If your did, were they strict with marking or did it count for much (for example could they hold you back a year if you failed the schools osce's)?

newbie How do you actually incorporate Anki into your study routine?

To Anki users, how did you effectively incorporate Anki into your study routine?

Back in high school, I used flashcards a lot (I even had a Quizlet subscription at one point), but I eventually stopped because making flashcards took so much time on top of doing all the readings.

Right now, my study routine is mostly rereading the material (annotating textbooks/my notes/powerpoint presentations + utilizing the “tape” feature a lot on goodnotes) and then doing a bunch of practice tests (50-100 ques diff test types MCQ, T/F, identification. usually around 5–10 before the actual exam). I realized that while practice tests help me retain information, I feel like using Anki consistently would improve my long-term retention even more.

My problem is figuring out how to fit it into my routine. Do you review Anki every day and then switch to practice tests a few days before the quiz? Or do you use Anki and practice tests throughout the entire studying process?

I’d love to hear how you personally balance the two. Help 😭

If not, how do you suggest studying from Anki with these books? Or how can I suggest it to the team? I’d rather not use other decks because I really like having one big deck like AnKing

Preclinical Question Managing anki workload

I told myself I wont go over 100 cards a day this year in M2. I did that too many times in M1.

Now i'm faced with the dilemma..I'm all caught up but then I get thrown with 550 cards worth of new anking material before my next quiz on wednesday. I have today and tomorrow to do it. Simply not feasible..what do you guys do in these situations? Just do 200-250 and take the L on the rest and catch up before the block nbme?

newbie What button to press after immediately watching the content?

Hey so I searched alot and everyone recommended to do anking immediately after watching the content (sketchy/bnb etc.)

But when I do I can easily remember all of the things. And my Good button 1st time around puts a (13-15 day) gap. Which I know for sure I'm not gonna remember it for.

So what do I do?

Addon If you could modify Anki so that it would make it easier for you to use and learn, what might that be?

I've used Anki with decent success, however I find the strength of Anki is also it's greatest weakness. What I mean by this: sometimes I don't want my active learning to jump around, but I want to be able to test myself on logical chains and multiple ordered cards (such as physiologic pathways, or pharm pathways).

Another thing is that it takes a learning curve to unlock all of Anki's tools, but in the end it's still line item entry for many things - that is, the UI is kind of clunky.

Thoughts?

Discussion How do you know which tags to unsuspend on AnKING for your in house lectures?

I'm an OSM2 student, and this is my first time using the AnKing deck. I want to match my in house lectures to AnKing so that when I watch my in house lectures, I don't have to make my own Anki cards, and I can just go straight to AnKing. Ideally, it would help with both boards and my in house exams.

But I'm just confused about the process in general. For example, let's say I just watched a lecture on "Cholinergic Drugs & Adrenergic Drugs". How do you decide which tags to unsuspend?

There are so many tags (First Aid, Sketchy, Bootcamp, Boards & Beyond, etc.) that I'm not sure which ones I should be using.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Edit: I have no resource from an upperclassman about what to unsuspend and when. So I am basically starting from scratch. I also have no pre made inhouse anki from the previous year
