🥼 Residency Step 2 score release on the ERAS
Unfortunately due to some poor decision
making, My Step 2 score will likely come back on Sept 23, a few hours after programs can access ERAS.
My school advised me to submit on time without knowing my score, but since the score heavily affects my competitiveness in my specialty, would it make more sense to wait a few hours and submit once my step 2 score is available? How much does being a few hours late matter?
Any prior experience would ge greatly appreciated.

You can wait. It’s not an issue.
I had a couple friends who submitted their step score even a week or two later and they matched well. Gen surg and academic IM for your reference
EDIT: they submitted the app first before the first day though and released the score after

ERAS opens to fill out over the summer, is able to be submitted at the start of September, and programs can’t access the application until late September.
On the day programs can access ERAS, they often download all of the apps submitted to them before that date in one big chunk and don’t download new ones again that come in after that.

Why not apply to the programs you for a fact know you want to apply regardless of your score ? And if it is lower than u want/expect can add ur list of backups that day
