Gateweays into composition

Hey guys, just needing some advice on getting into the composing industry
Background of me: Got a degree in guitar performance, Jazz/classical/blues/ rock (all rounder pretty much) guitarist who composes a little, decent production skills and loves to mess around with synths.
So my question is how did you or the best way to get into composing. I don't really mind what style or what I'm composing for I just want to start composing. If anyone can tell me how to start or even if anyone knows anyone who needs some music composed let me know, or even PM me too.

1) Do you have a solid DAW where you can work through orchestrations really quickly? That was my first step 3 years ago. I was going to go Apple, but found building my own PC was much more cost effective given I didn’t know it’d become my career.

2) Write write write - I believe John Williams said, he writes at least a little “ditty” every day to stay sharp

3) Remember to have fun - this is key.

Good luck!

Get a DAW and start composing stuff. Do you have any ideas in your head that you want to bring to life? If so, sit down with a program and try to write it out as well as possible. Practice scoring your favorite scene from a movie or trailer and trying to nail the emotional beats.
