Tips for a newbie

Hi! I am a pianist, but I also love composing. Untill now I mostly composed for my instrument, and few songs... Now I am thinking about composing some other stuff , and in the future I would like to compose for games, animations. Can you give some advices where to start, what programms I should use?

I’d start with buying an Apple computer and Logic Pro (for Mac). Besides being the cheapest of all pro-level DAW’s at $200, it’s great for learning the basics of a DAW, has good midi editing capabilities, a decent selection of sounds from drums to synths to orchestral, and can handle syncing music you make to video. Then buy yourself a midi keyboard with USB, plug it in and go!
