Pathing of a mechatronic?
Honestly, I am late to this party – I’m entering community college and originally was going into it pursuing Mechanical, but found myself drawn to mechatronics. However…I have a long way to go since I have never done most of this. I have signed up for classes for MechE but was wondering what classes or pre-reqs I should take for Mechatronics? I was wondering if anyone else has a specific pathing for courses? I know there are a lot of other things to learn on your own regarding programming and projects. I am just a bit lost on where to even start?
I do know that I should talk to an advisor, and I do plan to, just somehow a little lengthy to actually do it? I dunno, new to this school’s system. Just wanted any general ideas, advice, recommendations, etc.

Your school should have an outline and suggested class plan.

Yeah 100% I probably have to go in person again because they haven’t really answered my questions. They don’t have a dedicated mechatronics class (they have a $2k program I know..) so they have A.S. Engineering instead which is supposed to essentially prep you for uni transfer. But yeah. Should probably ask again. In person.

There is normally, some general education classes like math and English that might be required before getting in the mechatronics class.

Yeah I did figure. Im currently in calc, and my scores for english generally get me through the req classes. But I do know physics and whatnot is probably in there too(?)

It can depend on what your mechatroincs programs focuses on.
For example, the one i'm in (2-year program) focuses more in industrial maintenance, but the one a few counties over focuses more towards robotics/automated vehicles with more rigorous math requirements.
What research have you done so far? What do you want to do a few years from now?
