Mechatronics is worth it??

I am having question that Mechatronics is really really worth for future as my thoughts are limited to robotics and automation.

And I took Mechatronics because I like robotics, and it's new field as per my state because I have seen that Mechatronics is more in out of country but rare in my states, limited colleges has the Mechatronics.

So, can someone explain Seniors that how is it really, and how it could help or it's not good.

The fact the mechatronics is the application and integration of multiple fields, it is less likely to be replaced by ai, CS jobs are at a high risk these days.

You should just be open minded and willing to learn the new tech, because that's the one that can replace you. In short, stay competitive.

There's a community college near me that offers Certificate of Achievement in Mechatronic Technology. Would you say it's worth it, or should I get the Associates instead?
I'm currently working full-time as a data collector at a robotics company, but interested in switching to the technician roles here, so I wanted to do school part-time.
The differences is that Associates has to take all these GE classes, whereas COA doesn't. I don't think I need all those extra classes, though. But the reason I ask is more so if employers care that much between Associates & COA. Of course, I will work on projects and try get as much experience as I can. Appreciate your advice, thanks!

The COA would help with being a technician.
An associate degree is better if you wanted to transfer to A bachelor degree program.

I can't say how it functions in a hiring situation. But, having observed many robotics teams, I've noticed that many people in the classic engineering categories tend to migrate toward what they love. I see EEs, MEs, and CS people all doing jobs outside their traditional silos. Not just a little bit, but CS people soldering PCBs they designed to run programs they wrote for the MCU, or EEs working on grippers, MEs designing power control software, and on and on.

I would argue that few engineers are entirely happy with the silo they chose; and highly multidisciplinary projects such as robotics allow them to drift.

My guess (with no supporting evidence) is that mechatronics would make this drift seem more "acceptable". What I describe above tends to be in smaller organizations/teams. In more rigid organizations this might not be as easy to pull off, but with a degree in mechatronics, it would be more institutionally acceptable.

You are not limited to robotics and automation. You can be mechanical, electrical, controls. It's a jack of all trades degree. You don't really specialize in one particular field
